The most annoying expressions...

'Cheers' when said by an American...I don't know why it annoys me but I have a sneaking suspicion it is because of this boy I used to work with-he thought it showed off his 'sophistication' and the fact hat he lived in England for a few years in Junior High School!  Ugh  haha 

Also 'Kawii' which is 'cute' in Japanese...the girls here have an annoying way of saying it in a rather high pitched, nasally voice and it GRATES on my nerves...that is one thing i WON'T miss about Japan

On second thought, 'cheers' only really bothers me when he says it   haha

When somebody says they "washed it down" with a drink. Yuck. I just really hate that.

I say couldn't be asked.  It's like my pg version for my parents.

Another that bugs me, for no particular reason:  "That's neither here nor there".  Argh!

My boyfriend said "fair enough" all the time. He misuses the word "literally" but I think he gets that from his father because I noticed his father use it exactly the same way!

It drives me nuts when people say "that's ok" when you've just thanked them for something. It just feels dismissive. DB and his English side of the family say it all the time.

There are two that really get to me that a lot of people are saying nowadays, but I can't think of them off the top of my mind.

"Having said that ... ", "As you do" (said trying to be funny) and "If you see what I mean" are all British English expressions that drive me crazy.

Ooops!  I use that one! 

I can't stand corporate speak....and i'm surrounded by it in my workplace.
'managing expectations', 'drill-down', 'value-added', 'win/win', and the dreaded 'think outside the box'....oh and 'growing the brand', ACK!!

I actually think its awesome that you guys are all set to take this question literally, but I have pre-thought about this and I think it would be too much information if I pushed the envelope and at the end of the day while it's fair enough everyone else is doing it, and are happy as Larry to be doing so, well, bob's your uncle, there it is, ta da, I just couldn't be asked nor arsed to come up with my own annoying phrase because to be honest I could not care less, I mean I could care less, yeah? Ah, bless.

hmmm...I say a LOT of the expressions that you find annoying...

The one I hate most though is 'at the end of the day'

When people say "I could care less" and think they are oh so clever.
