I have seen plenty of NHS doctors who have been a lot more thorough and reassuring than the one Lissa describes. All doctors are busy. Some of them just have better people skills than others. It's not about red carpet treatment but sometimes, I think doctors forget patients are human beings not just a bunch of cells.
I agree...I love my current doctor she's great, she doesn't spend hours upon hours with me, but she does talk me through everything that she's prescribing and what I should watch out for, so I feel more comfortable dealing with whatever condition I have.
She's also pretty good about making sure I understand why I'm being tested for stuff and with my medical history what symptoms I should get checked out and she's got a hugely busy practice but it feels like my health is important to her, and she's not really judgmental either.
My last doctor was awful, he got you in and out in about 2 minutes and would prescribe you sneaky things without telling you.
Like I've been in with flu and said I was run down, without talking to me about it he prescribed me flu medicine and antidepressants, the pharmacists was going through with me what to do if they made me more depressed etc, I was like "Wtf?" I just threw them away because I didn't think I needed them or wanted them.
