Need Invite/Announcement "theme" ideas
« on: July 18, 2008, 08:28:59 AM »
I have a childhood friend who started designing baby/wedding announcements not too long ago. She basically goes off any theme and color I can give her and I was trying to think of something that could represent both cultures (American and British). Even if I can't figure out something with both...since we're getting married in the UK and I am planning to live there permanently, does anyone have anything to suggest that relates to something significant in British culture.

I know it seems cheesy to ask, but I really want to make a classy announcement (since we're just doing the registry deal).

I'm stuck for ideas.  :P

How about blended or intertwined flags of US & UK?

If you're still looking for ideas...

I wanted a very classy theme as well and when I thought of England, I thought of old, antique, etc. So I went with that theme... little details like damask designs, and fancy mismatched items like what you might find in an antique shop, pale gold, taupe, rich brown.

I also saw a really good idea in the favors thread that someone had bought a bunch of vintage teacups and saucers on ebay, filled it with candy, and wrapped it in toole for their favors. I would have loved to steal that idea, but it was a bit expensive for my budget. Still, tea is obviously very English so  you could do something with that idea.

Good luck! I hope you find an idea that you fall in love with!

Teapots and Coffee.

We just went with the themes of stars and stripes.....we didnt do the flag colours tho..we stuck to white, silver and burgandy.

my sister for my engagement party put a picture of Betsy Ross with my head on it...and a picture of a Redcoat with my fiance's head on it and the title said a Revolutionary engagement...and the border was american and british flags...you could always do something fun like that
