Love in the Time of Cholera - Gabriel Garcia Marquez

That book always come to mind.  A movie is reportedly in the works with 'Release Date' TBA 2006/2007.  I will have to read it again before the movie. :)

LOVE that book -- I'd be thrilled to see it turned into a good movie.  I sense Ben Kingsley's presence in there somewhere!

Yes, maybe for the younger parts.  Or Benjamin Bratt.  But Ben Kingsley's got the "exotic older gentleman" thing all wrapped up!  ;)

I got to say most of my favourite are children's books.

They would be all the Winnie the Pooh Books, I appreciate them more as an adult

And most of the Roald Dahl stories.

Most of my "adult" books are so difficult to pin down a favourite, as I prefer to have favourite authors.

Joyce Carol Oates, Faye Kellerman, Mary Higgins Clark, Chaim Potok, Jane Austen being some....

the latest book I can say I enjoyed over and above my usual pile has to be My Sisters Keeper !

Love in the time of Cholera was great. Anyone ever read Marquez's 100 Years of Solitude?

Favorite children's books:

Any of the Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle books
Cinder-Edna
Half Magic
Little Women - which I re-read every few years and still cry when Beth dies

Adult books I re-read:

Shogun - James Clavell
Crocodile on the Sandbank - Elizabeth Peters
Hawaii - James Michener
Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen
Six Wives of Henry VIII - Alison Weir
All the early volumes of The Story of Civilization - Will and Ariel Durant
A Distant Mirror - Barbara Tuchman
The Merlin Trilogy - Mary Stewart
If you don't know where you're going, it doesn't matter what road you take.
