Taal Vitaal is a good series for learning the language with books and CDs. You can get it in the English bookstore:

Avoid bitterballen if you don't want to eat horsemeat. Stroopwafel should be placed over a hot coffee for a bit to melt the caramel inside. Lovely.

Something I have found very, very useful is the BBC Language website. When I went to Poland earlier in the year, I downloaded the MP3 which was just the common phrases being spoken. You can print out the matching sheet and just go over them whenever you're bored. I put mine on my iPod and just played it constantly and it really came in handy.
