Guess what...Waitrose carries Clamato juice!!!

They sure do! I was like a kid at Christmas when I saw them there.

I love Costco, if anything just to get People and US magazines.  ;)

Am I the only person who hates Costco?  It gives me major anxiety to go in there.

Yeah, no kidding.  That's why I only go about once a year.  Not anxiety so much, though.. just advance knowledge of sore feet.

Okay, miss unpopular here, but I didn't see Corndogs at Costco, and I never have! I shop there every single week and never seen them! I got some pretzels this weekend too! My toddler now has been asking for them instead of sweeties! How awesome! And I got my last set of tires there also, it was a real bargain and cheap!  And their paper towels are just like AMERICAN PAPER TOWELS! My dad will have a field day next time he comes to visit!!

I got the huge tub of pretzels too last time :). I have seen corndogs at the Chester Costco, but didn't notice them at the Manchester one.

We go to the Lakeside one, which is right next to Ikea. Compared to that place, Costco is a zen oasis of calm.

(and we also only go about 4 times a year, I can't even imagine fighting through there every week!)
Summer 97 - first visited friends in London
99-00 - studied at Uni of Sussex on exchange
Feb 02 - moved to London on BUNAC
Sep 02 - WP granted (IT skills shortage list)
Sep 04 - WP renewed
Sep 06 - WP renewed again (screwed by 4-5 year ILR change)
Sep 07 - ILR!
March 09 - Citizenship!
July 09 - bone marrow transplant :(
18 Sep 10 - wedding!
Mar 12 - half marathon in Paris! 1:47:12!
Oct 12 - Amsterdam FULL marathon! 3:48:23!

I live in Manchester, its not like living near to London, we have a lot more choices, for instance, we have 2 Ikeas within a 20 minute drive, and 2 (perhaps 3) Costco's in the area. Our Costco is never every busy, its always nice a steady pace, never long queues. I love shopping there!!!

The Reading Costco used to have frozen corndogs, but they haven't had any for well over a year now.  I search for them every time we go, and no luck   :(

they didn't have them in Cardiff either :(  I was sorely disappointed.  I couldn't find chaos either--and I was so excited to have anything with Fritos in it.  I miss them.  I did get a lot of other good stuff though.

DH has loved American beef jerky since he lived in the states, but it's such a rip-off here.  So I got a big kiss when he helped unload the bag and pulled out the big old three pack of jerky.  He ate the thing in two days! :o

They had sourdough baguettes in the bakery that actually had some sourdough flavour to them.  I quite liked them.  It was all fun.  I'd forgotten how easy it is to get lost in there and suddenly be convincing yourself you "need" things you had never considered before.  I ended up showing considerable restraint and still spending £150.

They had Corndogs at the Costco in Oldham at one time.  Not sure if they still do as it's been about a month since I went.  They were in the freezer section, if I remember correctly, near the chicken dippers and stuff.

Regarding the paper towels, when you say "like american" - how do they compare to Bounty?  I usually get Bounty from Makro when they are listed in the Makro Mail, cause I can't seem to ever find a good inexpensive brand in the supermarkets that do the job.

IMO they are as good as US bounty, they are HUGE, the rolls are big and they are just great. Well worth trying out a case (if you have the room, mine are in my garage)

How's this "must-have" item.  For only £3999.99 you too can have a sparkly, light-up, Welsh dragon the size of your house!!  ;D  I don't remember them having those in the States.

No, I'm not a huge fan of either Costco or Ikea (Ikea is definitely worse though - one of the rings of hell!).  I wouldn't mind doing an occasional Costco run - we had a membership once (here in the UK) - but we never went and the membership expired.  Plus we just don't have room in our house for huge stocks of things like toilet paper - lol!  And there's not much food that I miss from the US anymore.

I always remember that Seinfeld episode where Kramer goes to Costco & comes back with a carload full of stuff that he has no place for - including that monster can of tuna, and the big cans of 'Beef-A-Rini' that he ends up feeding to those Central Park carriage horses... [smiley=laugh4.gif]
Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in...

It's such a massive life-saver for parties it's beyond belief. The only issue is storage of cold stuff. But some day I'll buy a house and put in a big fridge and that will solve everything!

I'm not really getting the paper towel thing - is it just the size? I'm sure I've bought double sized rolls in normal supermarkets before?

The actual paper towels are bigger, as well as the rolls. They are bigger than any roll you can buy in Asda.
