I can't get on facebook at work, so it's kinda fun for me to be able to update my status even if I can't go on the site. But I mostly like it for it's interface with LiveJournal - I've got it set so it posts all of my twitters for the day as an LJ post - which I find amusing. A lot of my LJ readers are family and friends in the US and rather than having to write a long post every few days they still get a quirky little synopsis of my day.

But as for just using Twitter without it going anywhere (to a blog or facebook) I think it's a total waste of time to be honest....

I agree with Anne (and I might starting using Twitter with LJ as well, that's a great idea!) but also if you get together a network of enough people that use twitter (who you follow and who follow you) then you can use it kind of like an instant communication tool.  I think twittering into the void is pointless, but if you send your tweets somewhere or use to connect with other people, it becomes more appealing.

agreed. I can receive instant updates to my phone about what my american friends are up to, which gives me that feeling of connection.  The idea is you build a network of people you twitter with (sometimes hundreds haha)  and you send receive and reply to updates.

i twitter from work as well.

OK, OK, stalkers - I got your message on LJ as well!  ;)  :P  :-*

I'll try to do one today or tomorrow. I've just been so busy at work and too sick of computers to go online when I get home! But just for you I shall do my very best!  ;)

Um...I have to say I'm not a twitter fan.  I would rather read real blog entries than little bits & bobs...yes, this means you, Anne!  ;)

Yaaaay! I don't mind Twitter as I'd rather have something as opposed to nothing, but I like real posts more!

I definitely like blogs and journals more, but there's something weirdly alluring about Twitter.

It's interesting to read how people express themselves in such a small format.  Some people can be very eloquent by saying very little.  Now, if I could just get my friends and family back home on it, I would probably save on the phone bills.  ;D

I need to update my following. I'm AnnieeR, for anyone interested. I go through phases of being verbose, and the fact that it's now blocked at work is slowing me down a bit, but I do try.  ;D I love it even more now that so many more people are using it!

Has anyone heard any dangers of  being on Twitter?  ??? I mentioned that I was to my bf and he got upset/wants me to delete mine. I just stopped using it for now and researched it some more. He's afraid people are able to stalk without you knowing.

Mine is blocked at work, too, but I was able to install a twitter thingy for firefox. It makes a tiny little icon in the corner of your page frame and pops us when there are new tweets. It also gives you the option to reply to others and send your own tweets! :) Basic, but gets the job done when I'm at work! lol It's called "twitterfox".
