When do the track & field events start? Every time I turn on the TV it seems to be boxing or judo or wrestling. I'd also like to see some of the baseball that has already started but I don't think the Beeb has shown any of that so far.

I think some of the baseball has been rained out. Enjoy it while you can. This is the last year for it and softball. :(
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

I'm not sure why but I think it's rotten.   >:(  Baseball and softball will not be Olympic sports in London 2012.

Track & Field is traditionally the last week of the Games, so they should be gearing up in the next day or two.

There are a bunch of different theories I've heard, but the most plausible is that neither baseball nor softball sell tickets.

My understanding was that there were too many sports in the Olympics and that stadiums built for softball and baseball specifically don't get used much once the Olympics have left (unless they are in a country where the sports are popular). I don't know if they don't sell tickets, but it wouldn't surprise me. So all in all, not financially prudent to keep 'em.

How would a city be a possible Olympic Host? We were driving down the freeway and I thought "wow, San Diego would be AWESOME to host the Olympics"...It' perfect for the Summer Olympics! Beautiful weather almost all year long especially right now. I think it would be great for our city!  ;D

San Diego 2016!

Ahh nevermind...I just Wiki'd it and I guess were put a bid in but soon cancelled. That's so dumb! It would have been so awesome to have them here.

I'm not the only one who thought so!!

Wherever you go, no matter what the weather, always bring your own sunshine.

Track and field was supposed to start today but the weather was too bad so it should start tomorrow.

I thought this was the first year for softball...how can it be the last?

Nope, since 1996.

It annoys me even more when they cut out men's all-around finals in gymnasics to show semi-finals just because they had Phelps in them.

Yeah, that bugged me... all the hype for the upcoming men's gymnastics and then they go and show about 45 minutes of swimming in the middle of it (not that I don't enjoy watching the swimming, but it would have been nice to have shown both in full)!

The other thing that was annoying me last night was that when they returned to the gymnastics coverage, it still said 'LIVE' at the top of the screen... the problem was that I was looking at the results on the website and the results were two rotations ahead!

The medals were finalised while the 'live' coverage was still only two-thirds of the way through the competition ???!

You're in NM, right? It's because of your time zone, but it still shouldn't have said "LIVE" on it for y'all!

Yeah, that's my issue with it - the fact that it said 'Live' when it so obviously wasn't. I have no problem watching it 'Previously recorded' (since the majority of the coverage is anyway), just don't try to make me think I'm watching it live when I already know who won :P!

Greco-Roman Wrestling.

About as 'old skool' as you can get!

THIS is a proper sport.  It's crazy!

What's up with the tennis? Federer is out beaten by James Blake! And now Venus is about to be beaten by the Chinese player Li Na!

Just goes to show why it shouldn't be in the olympics, they don't care. The best comment I heard was that any sport where the pinnacle is not an Olympic gold should not be in the Olympics.
