I am the only dork who cringes each time someone dives?  I am so afraid they're all going to hit their heads or feet or something on the platforms!

I have to admit that there was much shouting and celebrating when he nailed that last dive!!  What a SPECTACULAR way to spoil the Chinese medal sweep!  That whole last round definitely had me on tenterhooks :-).  Didn't hurt that he was very pleasing to the eye :-D.

I always think of that, too!

I think some of the scoring has been totally dodgy. Watching the women's tae-kwon do yesterday where the woman from GBR clearly landed a kick to the face of the woman from China and wasn't given the points. Rightfully, they did ultimately change the results and the GBR woman won the match. Now I was just watching boxing and it was the Irish guy fighting the Chinese guy for the gold. He was landing punches (even I saw that and I know nothing about boxing!) and they didn't give points for it! Then the Chinese guy was just ringing them up! It almost seemed like they were awarding the points to the wrong person.

It's unfortunate to think that if these fights were on other soil the outcome would have been quite different.

I was watching the diving yesterday and one of the commentors made a comment that if the Chinese diver had done the same dive (I think it was an Australian diver), he would've been awarded top marks all around.

Agreed. There's been MANY times I've said and thought the same thing. They've interviewed Bella Karoli after gymnastics especially the one where Nastia Lukin went up against He Kexin ...at first tying then ultimately they went over the points and He won. When in actuality He had TONS of mistakes in her performance clearly more than Nastia. Even the commentators during the performances were saying that they thought Nastia would win the tie and were shocked. I heard many "the judging is bias" and that some of the judges aren't even supposed to be judging because they aren't knowledgeable in that particular sport...

It's crazy to think like you said maybe if it was in another place the outcome would be way different..

I do find Boris Johnson to be a likeable if eccentric fool but i really hope he doesn't mess up the flag handover today in some way.......he doesn't have to speak does he?

I am agreeing with the bias of the judging!  Aren't judges supposed to be neutral and from all countries though?
