I think some of the scoring has been totally dodgy. It's unfortunate to think that if these fights were on other soil the outcome would have been quite different.

I agree. I've noticed that in events where the outcome is determined by a clock, the winners are more often than not from other countries. Where the outcome is determined by judging...well...not so much. There have been too many events where someone from another country CLEARLY did better. The obvious one was the gymnastics tie, but also one of the men's diving events where it was obvious that the German competitor who won silver was the superior athlete.
We are a nation that has a government -- not the other way around. And this makes us special among the nations of the earth. Our government has no power except that granted to it by the people. It is time to check and reverse the growth of government, which shows signs of having grown beyond the consent of the governed.

Or the gymnastics vault where one Chinese girl landed out of bounds on one turn and landed on her knees on another, but still beat people people who did beautiful vaults!

Yes, exactly. My 12 year old daughter turned off the TV after that one and declared that the judges were paid off and she was done watching gymnastics. I couldn't even try to argue with her about her perception because it was so blatent.

That's really sad...I can understand her disappointment. The games have been great but...this whole judging thing is out of bounds.

I thought the GB segment was terrific but the BBC feed for audio was absoltly dreadful unless yr posh and have 5 speakers all set up like they expect you to, yeah right.

I did see a good version without anyone talking all over the top of jimmys lead, and its here: http://celebrity.rightpundits.com/?p=4238

absolutly terrific.

OMG THE CLOSING CEREMONY ROCKED!!!!!!!!!!!

The bus was so cool and all those dancers and that little girl was so cute and the bus opening up with the London Skyline!

 JIMMY PAGE AND LEONA LEWIS!

AND BECKHAM! oh so lovely!! (Which I'm so glad he was there because he really could have stayed home and taken care of himself and Victoria after that car accident on the way to the airport)

The flame ceremony made me sad..the mood of the stadium changed too after those athelets went up those steps like they were boarding a plane.

That memory tower with all the people to resemble the flame holder was crazy amazing to look at...can you say transfixed? haha...I looked like a kid just in complete amazement!

China really did outdue themselves this whole time...even with all the controversy surround them I think they've done a great job especially with the entertainment.

It was just really good.

My dad called me from the US to specifically ask if I saw his speech. I didn't, but I guess 'disheveled goof ball' was a pretty good description!

Yes, that's the one!

My theory is that we can't beat the Chinese for order and perfection, so we should do things in a very English way...which means with style and a heap of eccentricity.  I can't wait!

I agree!! The British will do an excellent job and will have a style all their own. I can't wait either!!

2008 Paralympics Opening Ceremony is on.  Definitely looks like an after thought on part of the Chinese government.
The Paralympic games can be very intense competition. I look forward to catching some of it!
