We got bored with synchronised diving so have 'red buttoned' to the men's weightlifting.
I saw some of the men's gymnastics yesterday morning, so they are not just showing stuff that we might win.
I don't think the BBC go overboard with the Human Interest stuff. I saw the interview with the rower (I think it was a rower) who's wife died, and it is relevant, as are injuries and recent illnesses, because of course it takes a lot to get over something like that and bounce back to get to the Olympics. It wasn't too schmaltzy at all, I thought it was okay, and didn't detract from the actual event at all.
As for the politics...I still don't like the fact that an evil opressive regeme get to host the world's largest PR event, and I hate the fact that 'Chinese Teipei' gets referred to - It's TAIWAN for Gods's sake! - but now it has started I have stopped with the cynical anger, and am just getting drawn into the sports.
Oh, and while I am obviously wanting GB to clean up, I am rooting for Phelps to get his eight. That would just be amazing!
