Simon Cowell is a plonker though when he bleated that he'd copied someone on American Idol who did the same version. Actually, Simon, Neil Finn did it before both of them!!!!!!

He did actually say that it was a copy of David Cook (from American Idol) who had copied it from Chris Cornell. But I haven't heard either Chris Cornell's or Neil Finn's version, and I don't know which came first.

(Why am I defending Simon Cowell!!!?)  :P

Also, who is that guy who did the acoustic Billie Jean? Not noticed him before but I quite liked that. Simon Cowell is a plonker though when he bleated that he'd copied someone on American Idol who did the same version. Actually, Simon, Neil Finn did it before both of them!!!!!!

That was Louis who said Austin copied American Idol (When David Cook [smiley=smitten.gif] did that version) Simon is Austin's Mentor and confirmed it.  I need to hear the Chris Cornell and Neil Finn versions now.

I feel like I've seen Eoghan on something else.  Like he's done this before!!??

I still like all the girls best.  Diana overall with Alexandra and Laura a close second.

I'm not sure about Diana - if you ask me she sounds just like the Cranberries

Yes! She's got that same "croaky" (for lack of a better word) quality as the lead singer of the Cranberries. I still really like her, though. She's different.

I've gone off Daniel. He sounds like a lounge singer!

I like Austin and Laura. Still waiting for Rachel to sing a good song. Ruth is "eh" to me. Not sure about her. I also like Alexandra. Can't stand Louie Walsh! All he does is whiiiiiine.  ::)

Agreed - why he chose to enter 2 girlbands in the finals is bewildering.  Plus they were not exactly sensational

Can't wait for the show tmrw night though..not sure who I will be rooting for

Hmm.... I am rooting for Diana.  I don't think she sounds like the Cranberries, though maybe a tad bit like Sinead...  :P
To me, she has the most interesting, unique voice and style.
I really like Ruth, too, actually.  She really rocked out Purple Rain last week... and I love that song...
I hope Daniel goes this week.  He seems like a nice guy, but he does sound like a lounge singer.  Like easy listening music for the over 70's!  My granny would like him....  :P

I'm still really liking Diana but she's got to tone down the hand action. I thought Ruth did an amazing job and that Rachel almost showed us what she's capable of.

I'm a bit surprised Daniel was saved. I suspect that was a deliberate move by the judges to get one of Simon's boys out.
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

Did anyone else notice that neither Daniel or Ruth were showcased in the Hero song during the results?  I wonder why?  Voices not strong enough?  Personal beliefs?

I cannot believe Daniel is still in the competition.  I don't think he has a strong voice at all.

The door they were exiting from got stuck and they couldn't get onstage.  They did sing bits but the other's mimed to their parts (at one point you can hear Alex with a Spanish accent!!).

Oh dear!

Diana's really starting to bug me now with her hands, and her total imitation of Dido/Cranberries/Bjork/Sinead O'Connor.

And I still can't understand the judges' approval of Eoghan - I mean, his voice hasn't even broken yet! He is just this near-puberty school boy who shouts to reach the high notes!

But I loved Alex last night, she rocked last night!

As for Dan, I guess he will be out next week, I actually think he is a better singer than Scott.  His rendition of Josh Groban's "To Where You Are" was mostly off-key but he obviously hit all the right sympathy notes with its lyrics.  I was reminded of that episode of Ally Mcbeal when Josh Groban sang it, brought me to absolute tears ..

Scott was going to go sooner or later, but it was pretty pathetic the way Daniel's sob story managed to keep him in yet again. Don't get me wrong...I'm sorry that he lost his wife but this IS a singing competition. He's like a lounge singer and not even a good one. They went on about how much emotion he showed and how he "meant" what he was singing. I could sing a song badly and really mean it too..it doesn't mean I should be up there on stage singing. ::)

And somebody please slap Diana's hand down. It's beyond distracting now. >:(

I thought Alex and Laura both did really well. :)

I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt like that.  Truthfully, if he hadn't had the sob story he wouldn't have even made it this far in the competition.  I just found it really manipulative and icky.

I feel the same way about Daniel.  It's very sad that he lost his wife, but I'm sure there were many boot-camp rejects that were let go because there were better singers even though they might have had compelling backstories.  That said, I wasn't fussed either way with which one went.

I wish Brian whould have tied Diana's hand to that damn swing!  I like her, but the constant hand thing is really annoying.

I usually agree with the advice Simon gives to contestants, but I have to say that I'm glad Ruth decided to continue singing in English.  When singers like Ricky Martin, Shakira or Enrique Iglesias wanted to crack the English language market, they recorded English language albums.  It didn't mean that they were trying to be something that they weren't, so I don't understand why Simon was making such an issue out of it; the girl is comepting on a show watched by people who speak English.

I have to say though, overall I loved the show this week.  Lots of great performances IMO.

Preach on, sister!!!  I do like Diana, but man, that hand thing is annoying.
And I agree that Daniel's sob story thing is obnoxious.  I'm sorry for him that his wife died, but as others said, that isn't a reason to keep him in the competition.  Personally, I did think Scott was one of the weakest performers anyway.  No sadness about the bottom two this week.  I didn't like seeing Ruth up there the week before, hope she stays in.  I really like all 5 girls that are in, though for some reason Rachel annoys me as a person, even though I like her voice.  ???
