In the town I grew up in, our school cafeterias used to serve really good food. They really did.  We have an alumni group on Facebook and there was a great thread about all the amazing food they used to serve.

Top on the list was something called a peanut butter crunchie. I've recreated them and they're amazing (corn flakes, peanut butter, sugar and corn syrup)

But the other thing on the list were their bread rolls.  They were always served warm. White flour, yeasty, topped with butter, perfectly risen, light and fluffy.  Heavenly. A lot like a Parker House Roll.  I would love one of these right now.

I won't say my school's food was all good, but they used to serve lovely bread rolls that I would use all those same words to describe, and they used the same soft bread dough to make some amazing sticky cinnamon buns... the sugar would caramelize and go almost crispy at the base and edges.  I loved burrito day (typical low-quality frozen burrito) because that lunch came with those cinnamon buns.

Gawd, I can't wait 'til I have an oven!

Scary eh? I work with the guy that was attacked, it wasn't even their car he was booking!

They should give you guys cameras to wear. They have them in our area and it's a great deterrent.

We actually do wear body cameras, we activate only if a confrontation seems likely. Sometimes, you just don't have any idea it's coming. An officer in England was hit from the side, never saw it coming. Broke his shoulder and the guy was still going off.

Ooooooh... do you wanna (gently) sneak a jar of pickled okra in your return luggage?  Hrm... and/or a can of Spaghettios with meatballs?  Oh... what else, what else?  Frito Lay bean dip!  Now that those tortilla strips have been discovered, the bean dip has a purpose!

hhahaha  OOOoor, I could just say: Have a nice trip!  Enjoy your noms!

I haven't forgotten about the okra.  Lol

I need to carefully pick out my luggage so I can bring maximum goodness home with me.

*starry eyed*  Really?  You remembered the pickled okra?  Oh my gosh, if you're preparing to come back and find that it's not going to fit, don't feel bad about leaving it out, but I would be so grateful if you managed it... and I can pay!  Just let me know what you need.
