Gravy I think? Like the type that goes on sausage and biscuits. I've never done the chicken and waffles thing either. Definitely not an upstate/WNY dish!

With broccoli soup and a beer.  These are actually turd shaped as well, which is becoming a theme for my dinners.

I like* chicken and waffles with maple syrup.
 The very American combination of sweet and savoury (not any different than dipping chicken nuggets into honey). 

*Probably been like 12 years since I had chicken and waffles, but I could totally go for some. My husband would never go for it.

It would never occur to me to dip chicken nuggets into honey, and I've never seen anyone else do it either!!!

We did this growing up in the 80s, in the USA,  eating a treat of a Mcdonalds Happy Meal. 

I don't understand the chicken & waffles thing.  Waffles, in my mind, are covered in melted butter and maple syrup, but that doesn't go with fried chicken.  So what's on the waffles?

No no no. That's where you're getting it wrong because it absolutely DOES go with friend chicken! We maple syrup up and have had it before where it was serviced with spicy butter. The spice with the sweetness of the maple syrup is SO good.

I always found straight honey on chicken nuggets gross but my sister loved it, I was a sweet n sour sauce fan. Still sugary and salty though!
