I born in Buffalo and lived there until I was like 2, then we moved out of state. My family is from upstate NY, mostly Rochester. Never have I heard of a garbage plate while in Rochester. I only ever heard of it while with a boyfriend who was from Buffalo while we were visiting his family in Buffalo. He introduced me to the concept. He was intent on showing all of Buffalo's local delicacies if you will. So I thought it was from Buffalo. Perhaps not originally.

Definitely not originally.  Wings, yes.  Beef on weck, yep (which is what I recommend every visitor to Buffalo to seek out in looking for local cuisine.  That and wings *not* from the Anchor Bar).  Loganberry soda, sponge candy, check, check (although these are both regional).  You might even consider Greek food Buffalonian as they seem to specialise in it and there's a "family" Greek resturant on every corner.  But Garbage Plate is from Rochester.  You might be able to get it at a hot dog place in Buffalo, but I doubt it would be marketed as from Buffalo:

Yeah! Sonic's Cherry Lime-aids!!  I was a Sonic Drive-In addict (as well as a sushi addict) before coming here! Easy to make though! (8 oz glass) It's Sprite with a shot of granidine (sp?) and a healthy wedge of lime squeezed into the drink (then throw the rind in too after done squeezing!) and wala!! It's awesome!

Today though, I'm craving Rocky Road Ice Cream! 

Sugar!!!  Anything with sugar.  I am trying to go cold turkey.
