You're so right. Although I did prefer Sushi Hiro. Have you tried the new place yet?

A HUGE platter of kibbeh nayyeh (a Lebanese dish, with raw minced lamb, spices, and bulgur wheat)....made extra-spicy, with lots of extra-virgin olive oil drizzled over it....with onion wedges, hot green pepper slices, pickled turnips, toum (Lebanese garlic mayo), and a big basket of freshly-baked pita bread on the side! To die for---and nowhere to be found, in Burry Port!!!!!  :\\\'(

Good luck finding a decent one here! I find the beef to be a bit too lean; and what is referred to as a "beefburger" tastes more like a Salisbury steak without the gravy. The best mince I've tasted came from Ayrshire, Scotland. I haven't been able to find any Scottish beef, since!

I have to agree with you, though...a big, fat, rare cheeseburger, with American corn-fed ground chuck, with Polish garlic dill pickles, and "dragged through the garden," sounds like heaven!!!!!

(as for the cheese, I'll have some Welsh cheddar, or Double Gloucester, though!)

P.S. I just noticed you ARE in Scotland, Phatbeetle! Lucky you, as far as good beef goes!

I had kibbeh for dinner last night! I LOVE Lebanese food. The boy had that amazing bread and some fresh hoummous. mmmm. Then we shared a big grilled kebab (one chicken, one lamb) and saffron rice.

If you're ever in London Byron does a lovely burger, cooked medium rare and is absolutely delicious. My burger loving Texan adores them :)

For some reason, chicken fingers  - you know the deep fried, smooth puffy ones that they serve in Chinese resturants- sometimes with sweet and sour sauce-  which I have just apparently learned according to wikipedia are a New England thing  ???

I don't even really like them, but having a craving for them.  ???

Last time I had them, I got indigestion  :P

Similarly, I just suddenly thought of pikelets -- slathered in butter.  ??? I hardly ever ate those.

Triscuits with kaukama cheese of the port wine spready variety or Triscuits with sweet hot mustard, sharp cheddar and that wine flavoured summer sausage trader joes stocks.

Claussen kosher dills! I've yet to find a decent refrigerator garlic dill pickle in this country! Everything is sweet. I even tried the Polish section in Morrison's; no dice! The garlic dills had a lot of sugar in them (which is all wrong...they must be catering their export product to satisfy the British sweet tooth). I just want a dog-gone garlicky, sour, salty pickle!!! Guess I'll have to make my own!
