Hand-written or typed?
« on: August 29, 2008, 12:00:34 AM »
Quick question but does it matter if a letter of support from a persons spouse is hand-written or typed?

I don't think it will matter.. I only say this because I thought my In-Laws were going to have to handwrite their letter of accommodation for us and I had asked on here and others said it did not matter.

Here is the link to the post where I was told handwriting was okay.. Now again this was for the accommodation letter but I am sure it would hold true for the sponsor letter also.   :)

i know this is probably too obvious, but personally I think typed would be the best option. One, because of neatnessw, and two, because there is less chance of misunderstanding and inability to read a persons handwriting which of course may lead to delays.

My fiance handwrote his letter of support for me.  There was no problem with it at all.

My intuition tells me that typed is best, as these applications are taking so long anyway, you do not want to give them any opportunity to delay it due a misunderstanding of the letter or an inability to read it.  Worst case scenario, they could send it back to you and keep your money.

Even if the person typing the letter doesn't have a computer, it would probably be best to type it up for them and have them sign it.
