visiting the UK after being in Europe...
« on: August 29, 2008, 03:33:39 AM »
Hi all - I have a friend who is going to visit me in a few weeks, but she's spent a year in Europe on a year long Schengen visa. Before it expires, she wanted to visit the UK, will it cause any problems if the European visa is expired? I know the UK doesn't participate in the Schengen scheme, and the visit terms are different anyway for visitors (90 days in Europe/6 months in the UK) etc, I just didn't know if it would make any differece to a UK IO at the point of entry. After being here 2 weeks, she is going to Asia if that helps any...

If she has broken the terms of her Schengen then an IO may well suspect that she will break the terms of her UK visa and refuse entry.  But if she has an onward flight she should be okay.
