birds?

Anyone here with pet birds?

I was told by defra that I could isolate them at home for 10 days, get a bird flu test and vaccine, then receive a license to import them, and complete an owner's declaration and health certificate, and take the whole load to the USDA for endorsement, in addition to getting an airline health certificate right before they leave. Defra sent me all the forms to fill out.

Does this sound about right? The USDA told my vet that they didn't know about the avian tests or vaccine.

Thank so much. :)

I've successfully taken my 4 pet birds with me. It was 10 times harder than taking my dog, what with a complete lack of information out there. I sent Defra about 100 emails and made numerous calls.

Anyway, if anyone is going through a similar challenge, send me a PM and I'll let you know how I did this.

Hi tevian,

Glad to hear you successfully made it over with your feathered friends! They really are more adaptable than we give them credit for, I think!

I'm sorry I wasn't more help at the time. Your up-to-date experience might help others out - have you thought about writing a step-by-step guide?
Ok, so I'm smug.
