visa checking

Hi ya , dose anyone know if u can check on the progress of your visa once made or do u have just have to sit and wait ....

the visa if for my wife to come to the uk for settlement ... she says she has seen online u can check on status of application but i tried to tell her im sure it was for 3 party companies that deal with the embassy on your behalf...

if there is a way i would appreciate any info to put her mind at ease.

If you apply with a courier they will walk the paperwork into the consulate for you and you would have an answer in about 1-2 business days.

But if you send in the paperwork directly you pretty much just wait... Right now I have seen others say on here that it is taking around 20 days for straight forward applications.

yeah was sent in by ups .... and it has been deliverd to chicago .... they got it last thursday... tho i think it was holidays on fri and this week as her son dose not go back to daycare until wed..


she has not recived anything yet no email and she has has problems in last couple of days with email ... so can she call them up and check make sure they have recived it i know she got recipt from ups to say it has delived but she is stressing out really bad about it ...

i have tried to tell her im much in the dark as she is but just way she is she like to know.

When I applied back in July, I tracked my package and USPS said it arrived at the NY office, but I didn't get my "official e-mail" from the consulate that they received it until 4 days after that. Then I had to wait an additional 4 days or so for the decision.

I think it was 20 or 21 days total for me as well -- and I was awful about waiting. No way to check on individual apps though. You kind of have to grit your teeth and bear with it. (easier said than done)
