After Eights are made by Nestle, but I am told by DH that this wasn't always the case.
I don't think York Pappermint Patties are made by Nestle, but I could be wrong...

York Peppermint Patties are made by Hershey's (just looked it up :P). I like both of them, but having grown up with After Eight mints, I have to say that they are my favourite :). All the York Patties I've ever eaten have been fondant-like and chewy in the middle (more like peppermint creams covered in chocolate), whereas the mint cream in After Eights is gooey like caramel... so although the taste is very similar, the texture is different.

I think that After Eights were made by Roundtree's originally.

Roundtree's and Nestle are the now same company (Roundtree's is a subdivision of Nestle, like Trebor Bassett is a subdivision of Cadbury's) :).

Oh yeah, and last night I learned that after struggling to feed a 2 year old ravioli and meatballs or whatever else, he prefers my homecooking..... he ate a huge plate of pork fried rice, and I was astonished!!!   ;D

Yes, my point being - while they are clearly not the same, if someone is craving York Peppermint Patties over here in the UK, After Eights might be able to tide them over (on taste) until they get the YPP's to hand.  (or I suppose the reverse could be true in the US as well)

They have After Eights in the US.  I love those After Eight mint sticks, but they have no filling at all so they'll disappoint Peppermint Patty fans.

This thread made me think about the Peanuts character "Peppermint Patty".  I wonder what Brits have thought of her all these years?  Just a girl with a very strange name? :D

It is cool, and really easy, but the way I learned was to hold the towel in your mouth, while rolling it......hope they didn't do it that way in your hotel!! :P

That there is another breaker in the attic for the furnace.

My heat failed in the wee hours of last Saturday.  Luckily, the weather was nice last weekend, so I didn't have to get an HVAC tech in to fix it.  I called this morning and described my problem.

The tech had it fixed within a few minutes.  He said that, even though the breaker didn't look tripped, he flipped it on and off anyway.  I had heat and AC.  For $85, that lesson will stick with me.

Fruit cake (at least the American version) is about the same density as mahogany wood!
