I hope someone can help me out.  I sent my application and materials for a fiance visa  to the British Consulate over 20 days ago now and I have not received an email confirmation.  After looking at other posts, I found that everyone had at least got an email, even if their visa was delayed.
From the other posts I gather that it is taking about 20 working days for the to get the visa back, so I am getting more worried by the day that they lost my passport and application.
I would like to find out if they have the application, and if so, when I will get the visa.  Does anyone have an idea what I should do?  I do have the FEDEX confirmation that it was received on August 15 at 10 am, thats it.  I have no idea if it actually went to the correct person or if it was lost.  There seems to be no way to call or email anyone about this.  I also sent two faxes on two different days to inquire about my application, but I did not get a reply.
Here is my timeline so far:
July 21, 2008- completed online application
August 14, 2008- Biometrics appointment (first available in New York)
August 14, 2008-sent application to New York Consulate
August 15, 2008- FEDEX confirmation 10am

Any info about an actual person that I could contact would be helpful!!

Thank you !!!

On a side note, I would recommend to anyone applying for a visa to go through a courier.  I hear that you get the visa back in a day or so.  If I had known about this option when I applied, it would have saved me so much stress and I would be in England with my fiance now.

I know it's stressful, but you'll just have to wait a little longer, going from counting the first day on the 18th of August, you're at 20 days exactly. I know that the usual time at the moment is 20 days but that's not an exact rule. There's really no one you can contact about your application - you'll just have to wait a few days and see.

They don't always send out confirmations that your documents have been received, but you know they were received from the FedEx confirmation. I know it's difficult but try not to stress out :)

I think it's been made clear (in your previous inquiry) that there is no ONE person you can contact to inquire about the status of your application -- as aggrivating as that is, and I completely empathize with your frustration.

PrincessJuls is right. You're right on the dot for 20 days and the timing for when it was received seems to have fallen right in their peak for a heavy volume of apps. Easier said than done, but you really have no choice but to give it more time. (Bare in mind I couldn't follow my own advice now at the time of my own application, but understand we've all been through it and it won't help to stress about it.)

If it makes you feel better, contact FedEx and find out the name of the individual who signed for your documents and make note of it. I know they shut early on a Friday during the summer, so chances are that although it was delivery confirmed on Friday at 10am, it may not have been hand delivered FROM that person until closer to closing time.

I'm not sure how they sort documents, but it may be helpful on their site to display the proceedure or process (or channels) a package must go through -- especially in times of heavy volume or backlog -- before it gets to any one individual's desk to be reviewed...all this being so that applicants have a better idea of how many hands it must pass through before arriving on someone's desk for a decision.

All that being said, although 20 days is the approximate timeline at this point, other applications may take longer. Do you feel your application was pretty straightforward? The NY office was efficient in my own case and in most other's I have read. I would venture to say you should hear something this coming week as I, myself, would have begun counting from that following Monday. All you can do at this point is be patient. The people here in the Visa forum have mostly all been through the process (or are currently in it) and we know the anxiety.

Shame we can't put GPS on our packages...hang in there.  ;)

Thanks for the advice...but I am still freaking out!
How long should I wait until it is officially a problem?  I keep seeing posts here that people at least got a confirmation email, or got the visa back in a couple of weeks time.  My fiance is going to see his MP on Friday if I do not receive it then, I don't know if they can do anything on their end or not.
I guess I just have to keep my fingers crossed.
Does anyone know if I can contact A Briggs at this point to pull my app, or will I just have to pay $1,100 and do the whole month-long wait for the biometrics appointment again?

Don't freak.  And don't pull the app.  if the courier has confirmed it was delivered then all you can and should do is wait.  Pulling it will do you no good, and will just cost you more money.  This is the worst time of year for any application, and everyone is in the same boat.

I doubt that going to an MP is going to help either.  There is really nothing he can do to hurry it unless you are in desperate need to travel, ie pregnant, ill etc.

Well, in fact, I am pregnant, which is kind of why I am stressed to get there soon- before it's a problem to fly over.
This process has been very hard on us- to be apart so long during my pregnancy, and we had hoped to be married before the baby is born.
So he is going to complain to his MP that we should have at least had an email confirmation and some sort of time frame as to when the visa will be issued. I don't know if the MP can do anything, but it's worth a try.

Right, that obvously changes everything.  I assume that you told them of the pregnancy when you applied?  Have you e-mailed the consulate or completed the online complaint/feedback form from www.ukvisas.gov.uk?

Yes, I told them in the application that I am pregnant, and my fiance confirmed this in his letter.
I am just afraid that they didn't open the package or lost it, since it has been 21 working days now without an email confirmation or any other reply.
I faxed them last week twice, but I did not get any response.
I just emailed them again, hopefully I will hear something soon!
Thanks for your advice!

If the courier delivered it, it was delivered, they wouldn't have lost it.

Was this sent via courier?  I think she sent it via FedEx and just mentioned in her post to others that they should use a courier when submitting theirs.

It was sent by UPS.

In your first post you said you used FedEx  ???
I'm thinking about getting metal legs. It's a risky operation, but it'll be worth it.

Yes, I have the delivery confirmation online.  I didn't remember when I wrote the first post that it was sent by UPS and not FEDEX, but it was UPS.
