Thanks for this link and your research, SMS. Very helpful!
I am disturbed at what ABriggs has a requirement: proof of departure. This doesn't look right as an entry clearance requirement. Also evidence of permission to re-enter the USA. HUH?
Andrea, Vicky, got your ears on? Anything else on this page noteworthy before I ask for an enquiry?
Anybody? What are other commercial partner site saying that the requirements are?
Just had a look at the A.Briggs site and wow. The permission to re-enter thing is clearly aimed at immigrants to the US (although it's not worded like that so I can see how people can be confused.) The consulate does ask for evidence of immigration status for non-US citizens so that's okay, but I am unclear why they would need to provide evidence of permission to re-enter the US specifically if the person in question is applying for a UK *settlement* visa.
Proof of departure- is just wrong. They shouldn't be encouraging people to buy tickets before getting their visa since it's not necessary or required.
Also-
"For Fiancé Settlement you need the fiancé's passport. Any other settlement types require original birth and marriage certificates." Clearly inaccurate, as you don't need an original birth certificate for a spousal visa, the passport will do just fine. And for a fiance visa, you can supply the fiance's original birth certificate if the sponsor doesn't have a passport.
"You must submit evidence of a lease of tenancy agreement."- Doesn't take into account that the sponsor might have a mortgage or you may be staying with relatives. I'm sure most people will figure out that they just need to send in proof of accomodation, but when you're preparing a visa application you really go over every little nitpicky thing to make sure it's correct and I could see how just saying "lease or tenancy agreement" could confuse someone who isn't in a straighforward renting situation.
edit: just saw that you've already sent an inquiry, garry- that's good. I'm definitely concerned about some of the stuff on that site!
