Anywhere in Scotland is more Scottish than Edinburgh!  Are there even any Scottish people in Edinburgh?  I thought it was just English people and Americans that lived there  ;)

I do of course jest but there are loads and loads and loads of English/Australians/Americans in Edinburgh compared to the rest of Scotland.

I see the joke.  So do most people in Scotland, and the sort of Edinburgher like DH or those who have moved to Glasgow or the like.  Just don't tell anyone else from there.   ;D

Hmmm... that sounds ok, but I would rather talk to my husband and enjoy spending time with him than for both of us to walk around with our ipods on!  I am thinking we will just walk around for a bit, go to Holyrood Park ahd have a picnic, then do the Mary Kings Close tour, since it's Halloween season...
but thanks for the suggestion!   ;)

ahhh... edinburgh's the best!  i just moved here and there's loads of things to do!

walking along the royal mile is my favourite thing to do.  there's so much to see and so much history.  i love it!  they have free (well, tips are expected) walking tours that leave from the starbucks on the royal mile if you're interested in anything like that.  i think the company is "new edinburgh."  i haven't been on one yet, but keep meaning to go.

also, i went on a witchery ghost tour and had the best time!  it's more funny than scary, but also really informative.  i went to mary king's close too, which was nice, but the witchery tours were much much much more fun, in my opinion.

the really nice thing about edinburgh is that it's so walkable.  most of the things to see are close together and a lot of the time it's easier to walk than drive to many places because of the little passage ways are everywhere.  and especially now with all the construction.  i was surprised to see how much less people depend on their cars here than in america.  it's not uncommon not to have one, or a license!

ok, that's enough from me.  i love it here - can you tell?? ;D

I was there about two weeks ago and I completely fell in love with that city. Granted, we only had an afternoon there but I think I must've just had my mouth wide open and saying, 'wow' the whole day. :P

My boyfriend and I climbed up the Scott Monument which will give you some great views of the city. Absolutely breathtaking. Touring the castle was nice too and offered some great views. (I was more concerned with looking at the views of the city than anything inside the castle!)  ::)

As I said, I wasn't there long, but I wanted to add in my advice! Have fun!! I am so jealous.

And I am even more jealous of people on here who get to live there everyday! I kept saying how I can't believe some people get to live there all the time.  :D
