one of those horrible Senseo machines (sorry to anyone who likes them).

I've got a 'horrible'  ;) Senseo machine, and i like it!
It reminds me of the coffee i get when i travel to Germany or Holland, which are, admittedly, not known for having great coffee, but it's what i like... got to be made with continental UHT milk (which is very like our evaporated milk), and lots of sugar, in a very small cup so that you can drink it in 2 or 3 swallows while it's hot.
I buy the 'espresso' pods on eBay, cos they're the strongest... or i make my own with paper filterpads filled with Lavazza espresso.  Sometimes when im abroad, i sometimes find interesting flavoured ones that i like.

Yeah, that was part of what bugged me about the Senseo were the cost of the pods.  I didn't think the coffee was that wonderful, but I have to admit it's a lot better than instant and faster as well.  If I was going to keep my machine, I was going to try to use a re-usable pod, but we bought a new stove-top pot, so I gave the Senseo away.

It makes sense it's like Dutch coffee, but I found them not to be like Finnish coffee at all.  It'd be interesting to figure out the regional variations in coffee styles/habits/tastes in coffee drinking countries.

probably for the best, as i've found the re-usable ones to be pretty useless.
But the paper ones (like coffee filter paper) that you fill and then dispose of are good.

We love Dunkin Donuts French Vanilla Coffee, we just bought 12 lbs of it back from the states with us, and when family visit, they bring us a few lbs of it. Its cheap and its delish. We love it!!! I also really like the ASDA Brand Medium Roast, its not fancy, but it tastes pretty good.

I like Whittards of Chelsea coffee.  They do normal and flavoured and you can taste test them before you buy.  I normally buy a few bags if I see a store.  Plus thier Pineapple and Malibu tea is addictive  :P

I don't like flavored coffee at all. I do love Peet's but I'm not as committed to my coffee as Anne and have too many other indulgences to justify it. We buy the dark roast beans from Costco. I buy 2 bags when we go there and keep it in the freezer. I only grind what I need for the day. It's good and the price is right.

This is what my future MIL gets.  I like to mix their vanilla flavour with regular coffee because I do find it a bit strong on its own.  I've never been a fan of instant teas either and theirs are great!!

I still have yet to find anything as good as Don Francisco's Vanilla Nut though.  Sooooooo good!

Oh my, coffee addict here. I used to live in Oakland, CA and stopped at Peaberry every morning for a cup of India Mysore or Sumatra...Of course that was over a year ago and I was having up to 5 venti mocha's a day just to stay awake.

But, now I get instant  :-\\\\. Though hubby keeps offering to get me a coffee pot and tells me to get a bag of Sumatra from Starbucks. It's close to the flavor of Peaberry and I just checked online and Peaberry might ship to the UK. Further investigation required!

I'm sorry!! I didn't mean to put you down at all! I didn't mean for that to come across like that!!  I was just saying that I personally don't like to use the creamers because of the chemicals. In my past life I have used them and they sure do make coffee taste good. However, I am on a personal mission to use as much natural, whole, and local foods as possible.  I didn't mean it to come across as a bash to your personal choice.  Sorry Midnights_Mom, really I meant no offence at all.

Aww...I'm sorry too; I guess I misinterpreted you -- thanks for letting me know you never meant it that way! [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]

I had a couple of other times here when something I mentioned using or liking seemed to be jumped on with disdain by other posters, and you know how you start to wonder if you just have a sign stuck on you, even in the cyber world, lol.

I'm not picky at all, just don't like instant coffee much... so we have a percolator and we just use the cheap big-ass can of American style ground coffee which comes from ASDA... I know, some of you might be really upset to hear such a travesty (and I'm sure its not fairtrade, but we get a lot for little money and we go through a lot of coffee! plus, we're pretty broke, atm)  :P
but, it's not too bad, actually... I suppose it could take the Folgers challenge... lol
