I came here on Nuvaring--there's a whole discussion on it in the history if you do a search.  I had researched it and found out it could be available in the UK, but when I got here found out otherwise.  My GP was nice and did some research for me.  She said she had heard about it, but thought it sounded a bit odd--she actually quizzed me quite a lot about what my experience of using it was like (I LOVED Nuvaring). Anyway, she told me that it was slated for distribution in the NHS (I think around this year) but I don't know what's happened with that since DH and I decided to have a baby and I went off BC.

In the end, I had to cave and go back to the pill, but luckily found one that worked well for me.  Luckily, I had a large supply of the Nuvaring before I came though.  I bought as large a Rx as I could afford and then my doctor in the states gave me a major stash of samples (which can last a good time since one sample equals one month!).

As for the contacts, I brought out a years supply of Dailies as well.  Haven't filled them yet as I use mostly glasses.

Best of luck!

Cool, thanks for this info Cadenza! I will do a history search for the other thread. Maybe by next year (or soon after) nuvaring will be available! What a nice thing to imagine- free bc! Especially since I remember $5 copays only a few years ago and now I pay nearly $60 (WITH insurance!) I can't imagine going back to the pill. I have had NO side effects on the ring. It's absolutely amazing!
