Healthcare on a Fiance Visa (was: PLEASE HELP)
« on: September 25, 2008, 04:54:19 PM »
Right ok guys I need your help once more and for once it's not VISA application related.

Brandon is here with me here in S. Wales UK and has been since July.  We've given legal notice for marriage and due to be wed Nov 18th 2008 so all is good on that front.

My question relates to healthcare Brandon's entitled to and how do we go about receiving it because he needs to see a doctor quite urgently regarding a lump on his side that's causing him a lot of pain.

Many thanks for all your help,

Sasha & Brandon x

You should post this in the healthcare section really...

If he is on a fiance visa he is entitled to NHS.

Contact your doctor and tell them that he is your future husband...take his passport with you and register him at your surgery and they can see him.

If its really really serious..take him to hospital with his passport...

Call NHS Direct:

http://www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk/

When my sister was in London for a visit last Christmas she got bronchitis, and we called them up.  The nurse chatted to her for a minute and then told us where the closest walk in clinic was.  We went there, waited for about a half hour, and she was seen and given a prescription for antibiotics at no charge.  She told both the NHS phone nurse and the clinic people that she was American, and nobody seemed to mind or want to make her jump through any hoops.

Good luck.

This is different, as the fiance is entitled to NHS care.  He should definitely go and register at the surgery.

Ah, good point.  Well, it's there if the GP is akward or closed (it's 5:30pm as I type this).   :)
