ILR Success
« on: September 30, 2008, 06:52:54 PM »
I received my ILR from the Birmingham PEO this morning.

I'm astonished at how little evidence they asked to see. After worrying about deficiencies and preparing for every part of the application, I almost feel annoyed!

Here are the things they requested to see and kept:

-Passports
-Life in the UK pass certificate
-6 pieces of mail

And that's it! No further questions about anything.

They never asked to see anything regarding our accommodation situation (temporarily living with in-laws while we find a new flat).

They never asked why we were living in Brussels for 3 months (listed as one of our prior addresses).

They never asked to see anything with regards to our finances. Some of our 6 pieces of mail were bank statements, but they were from our joint current account, and we keep a relatively low balance there.

I was a little concerned about the date of our first piece of mail (December 2006--I entered on 28 Oct. 2006) but she said that was absolutely fine.

So, while I am very happy and extremely relieved, I'm also very surprised.

Congratulations!!!
Even after all this time the sun never says to the Earth "You owe me."
Look what happens with a love like that, it lights the whole sky.

Congrats!!

I just entered the UK myself yesterday (Oct 1) on my Spousal Visa for the first time.  It has the KOL Stamp so after I feel comfortable enough to take the Life in the UK test I'll be applying for my ILR in person also.   :)

Congrats! Better to be annoyed with overpreparation than annoyed because you were denied and had to get FLR again and start again finding stuff!

Congrats! Good to hear that they've simplified it, hopefully it will remain so when I do mine in February 2010!
