Ideas or recipes for juicer pulp?
« on: October 03, 2008, 12:55:52 PM »
I recently bought a juicer, and I use it almost daily (drinking a yummy carrot-apple-beetroot-ginger blend now, in fact.)  Trouble is, I'm running out of things to do with the leftover pulp.  Anyone have ideas outside the typical cakes, muffins, and soups?  I hate to keep putting the pulp in the compost.

Also, any ideas for unusual-but-tasty juice blends are always welcome. :-)

I'd throw a bit more ginger and some garlic at it.. and maybe some other stuff, and make gyoza.  Or add curry and make curry triangles.  (basically the same as gyoza, just flatter and a different shape.)

I'm only thinking about the blend you posted.. which would be fine with a lot of spice/garlic.. but.. I've made some pretty great dessert gyoza too, if the pulp o' the day doesn't suit garlic or curry.  You might want to add some more fresh fruit, though.

For the veg- add it to more veg- for example make mashed potatoes more exciting by adding corgette and carrot pulp, add the pulp to pasta sauce, mix it into raviolis,
Add with breadcrumbs, eggs, shape into patties, and make vegetable pancakes...

For the fruit, add to oatmeal, make syrups, mix into pancake mix, make fruit deserts- mix with custard and cake

I was thinking of Chinese curry triangles.. but yeah, samosas would be good, too.

This recipe uses ground beef, I usually just put in onion, ginger and curry, a bit of 5 spice blend.  Nothing else. Flat and powerful.  Good with wonton wrappers or spring roll wrappers.

You could steam or bake chicken or fish with the pulp wrapped with it in foil so the flavours of the fruit infuse the meat.  Great if using any citrus, apple or ginger.
