DrThom is one option for private treatment/birth control prescriptions in the UK, if you are in London. (They also provide birth control pills via the internet.)

What?  Did you just say Birth Control over the internet?!

Yep, believe it or not! http://www.drthom.com sells a 3 month supply of the pill for £30. (Not a dodgy pharmacy site, either.) It made headlines a few months ago!

So if I extend my visit here, I need birth control, so I checked out drthom, but the pill I usually take isn't there.  I'm on Cyclessa, though Yasmin is similar.

I tried googling for a family planning clinic in Lincoln, and got articles about how one was closing.  Grr. This really is the only obstacle keeping me from staying over Christmas.

I'm doing some research on my own before I break down and buy pills online from the Dr Thom site, and I discovered Mary Stopes International.  I went into live chat and was told by their help operator that I could go to their clinic in London and it would cost £80  (http://www.mariestopes.org.uk).  I'm hoping to find something closer to Lincoln, but maybe this will help someone else.

Why not call your doctor in the US and explain the need for a refill while travelling abroad?  They can call into the pharmacy and your mom can mail to the UK.

I'm not sure that's legal, is it?  (mailing a prescription overseas, I mean)

I don't know of any restrictions and I have known many people to do so.

I did a quick Google search and did not find anything.  Hopefully someone else will chime in, if they know to the contrary.

ETA:  Here are the restricted or banned goods.  http://customs.hmrc.gov.uk/channelsPortalWebApp/channelsPortalWebApp.portal?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=pageTravel_ShowContent&id=HMCE_PROD_009828&propertyType=document

It speaks of unlicensed drugs being banned but not prescriptions.

As I said, I have done this and known many others to do it as well.

I can't imagine why it would be any less legal than taking it with you when you visit.
