YIKES!!!
« on: May 26, 2004, 04:48:48 AM »
Hi all, OK, I may just be making myself crazy again, but as I was reading the Settlement Visa info, I noticed that you are supposed to have a marriage cert. With that has a raised seal or stamp.  There is no raised stamp or seal.  Am I just making it harder on myself?  I’m going crazy about this!!!!  Maybe I’m just crazy!!

You should be okay.  You were married in Surrey, right?  It's my understanding that most (if not all) UK marriage certificates do NOT have a raised seal.  I think they're talking about US marriage certificates when they specify that they have to have a raised seal.  I think they do that to keep people from bringing in their marriage licenses instead of their marriage certificates.

Give the registry office a call and double check...I'm almost 100% sure they'll tell you they don't issue certificates w/ raised seals.

It'll all be okay!   :)

I panicked about this while gathering up my documents for my trip to the UK Embassy in NYC for my Spousal Visa! Don't worry! My marriage certificate (from Kent) just had an official seal with a  number on it.  No raised stamp!

You're ok!

 ;D

Mine is official and has a number and all that stuff.  I even got two copies since I knew I needed it to change my name and for the visa.

ohhh how familiar this sounds!!   i was worried about this too, but as someone pointed out to me the raised seal part must have to do with marriage certificates issued in the states, not the UK.  yours will be fine, without the seal. :)

again, best of luck to you :)
(as by this time, you might be on your way to the office... )

LOL!!!  All seems so silly now ;D  Actually I heard a couple saying that they didn't have a raised stamp on theirs and they had gotten married in FL and driven up the day before!  Sheesh, imagine they had not given it to them!!!  I was so fine, no worries!

I did manage to forget to print the Fast Track Application of course, but they print it there for you if you need it.  And the picture booth was used  ALOT!!!  Oh, and why do they ask for the pictures?  They don't use them in the visa?  I thought that was strange.
