Funky Sock Exchange -- Who's in?

A friend of mine did this with me some time ago in the states and it was really fun.

Basically it was a "chain" letter of sorts (no threats of death or bad luck) where you end up receiving 36 pair of "funky" (meaning fun/cool...not stinky) ladies' socks -- and all you have to do is send ONE pair of socks to the person speficied in your letter, and then send a copy of the letter to six of your friends. It's also nice that they know about the letter in advance when you ask if they want to participate -- so no surprises. Also, you get socks from people from all over and they're inexpensive to send (just a manilla envelope).

I am game...I am a avid fan of silly socks.  There is nothing nicer than being suited and booted to visit clients knowing that you have ridiculous socks on underneath your professional clothes that they can't see

Not sure in the sending out six letters thing...can we simplify it in some way??  I know some of the girls did a critter swap recently where they got paired off without telling eachother who their partner was until they received the item..maybe have a budget for the socks??

LuckyCuz, I've had two other people from UKY volunteer, and I may be able to convince my fiance's sister as well -- she LOVES socks. All I need is for you to PM me your mailing address.

There's no way I can think to alter it too much. The only person you would need to buy a pair of socks for would be the person specified on your letter. That letter is sent to you along with a blank copy for you to reproduce and send to 6 additional friends (each with a blank copy as well). The reason it works a bit better than "chain letters" is because you ask your friends if they want to join first, so they're not getting a surprise letter without being told.

Ideally I was wanting to make it all people from UKY, with the thought as you suggested, to post pictures of what we received. Once I get 2-3 more responses, I will send PM's to everyone detailing how it works.

The only other thing I can think is to do it electronically, through e-mail (which would eliminate the need for physical addresses to mail 6 letters...although I will still need your addresses to begin the exchange). But then that's part of the fun as well, getting something besides a bill in the mail.

Any other UKY'ers more interested in participating if it's done through e-mail?? Might be a way to make it international. :-P

Okay, now that wedding planning and big holidays are out of the way...it's time to get started. I've decided to do this thing via e-mail (aside from the part where you send someone a pair of socks, of course) and there are a few people I need more info from.

I have 6 people who have expressed interest. I have postal addresses, but I need e-mails as well. So, if I don't have yours and you already said you'd join in, PM your e-mail to me and we'll get started.

Oh good!! I'm so glad you're having sock-cess  on receiving your socks!! Hehe...I'm such a nerd. It's really fun to randomly get the socks in the mail though, which is why I think it's important to pass the e-mail letters onto friends who are cool to join in rather than just send it to anyone who might ignore it or not want to play along.

I got my first pair this week and they were wicked!!

I think one or two people may have had issues getting their e-mail. I'll check around and make sure everything is ok. In the meantime, you're more than welcome to send to more than 6 if you like...it just means more socks for you at the end of the day. :-)

I just got my 2nd pair a couple days ago. Anyone else??
