I was disappointed in last night's episode.  It wasn't bad but just didn't seem as well planned, well filmed, or as interesting as the episode about the deep south.

He went to my homestate (Minnesota) in last night's episode. DH thinks I'm nuts; he was going through Minneapolis in the dead of winter and I got hit with this sudden urge of homesickness.  DH couldn't understand how one could miss such a cold, un-inhabitable place ;D

Some of the shots made me a little homesick for snow too.  :)  Not homesick for shoveling though!

I thought he really glossed over Kent State.  Way to mention such an event and then not really discuss it.  The National Guardsmen involved in the incident were the same age as those shot, just scared, not very well trained kids who couldn't hear the orders that they were given.

I know that that is not really the point of the show, but if you are going to mention major events then they need a little more discussion.

Yea, I was dissapointed by the 'wave from the window' that Ohio got.

The only mention of PA was Gettysburg, not even Philly was in there.  I like the show, but I think they need more time in each state.  Did he even mention Delaware?  Except that it is "the first state".

I was surprised by how much time he spent in Kentucky in the second episode; I've been to that same bourbon distillery!

He said he was going to Arkansas, but I only ever saw him sitting on the bank of the Mississippi eating a sandwich!!   :o
It's a beautiful place, and I found it a bit sad that he didn't show much of what it has to offer....
He is going to Texas next week, but from the sounds of it, he will be heading down into West Texas and toward Big Bend.  Sadly, I thought he might stop by the Mesquite Rodeo, not that I ever went there, but it would be cool if he stopped in my hometown.  Even Southfork Ranch would be ok with me...   :P

Hehe.... I went once when I was 6 years old, but I started crying because they were hurting the cows.... but my grandma did make me this awesome outfit that was a red and white silky western shirt and skirt with the pearly snaps and fringe and I had a cowboy hat to go with it... :)  I used to wear it all the time when I was little... too bad I can't fit into it anymore!   ;D  Oh yeah, I would rock that in the Northeast!!!   8)

I had a little blue and white cowgirl outfit with fringe & everything that my granddad got for me - when I was about 3-5 years old.  I'll scan & post the photo sometime!

Mine was a red & white gingham shirt with pearly white snaps, a red skirt and matching vest.  My mom made it for me for Christmas when I was 5.  I'm sure she still has it somewhere.

Jeez, why bother mentioning it if you're not even gonna visit Kent State or any of Ohio's other atributes either!?!   >:(

Ok, I know his whole goal is to visit each of the 50 states, but I really wouldn't consider driving through a visit.   :P  Oh well.  I agree with Tin, it wasn't a  very well laid out ep. last night.

Um, yeah - tonight's episode Mountains and Plains...I'm almost afraid to watch - including the "bizarre home of some Kansans in an underground missile base"...  ::)

Why not Lawrence?!  Only the coolest town in Kansas?  Home of the Univ of Kansas, Haskell Indian Nations University, the Free-Staters, the inventor of basketball, William S Burroughs, etc...  But nooooo, all we'll get is the "bizarre home of some Kansans in an underground missile base".  Boo.   :(

Even Dodge City and Boot Hill tack would have been better than that.

Sorry, but I've got all of you whiners beat so far. ;)  At least he stopped in other states.  Mine, he poured water on our side of the continental divide (while standing in another state and talking about that state) and then drove through saying "Idaho is stunningly beautiful, but unfortunately we have to move through."  All they showed of Idaho was the road in Montana going in and the road toward Wyoming going out. I didn't even get 20 seconds coverage.  The only perk was I knew just what road he was on as it was one I drove all the time before I moved to the UK. (By the way, my profile pic on the left is just a stone's throw from where he was in Idaho, so since you didn't get to see much, you can look at that if you want to know what it looks like :) )

I'm so homesick now after seeing my mountains in snow again.  Montana and Wyoming are like home for me as well.  I'm definitely missing my mountains and snow very much now.

(Here's hoping he shows more of the state I grew up in.) I am still enjoying the program overall though.

You're right Cadenza.  You were completely robbed.  :(

I did think last night's show was better than the midwest one though.  At least they shot some beautiful scenery and had a couple interesting storylines.  I don't think they even tried to show anything nice in Arkansas, Missouri, Ohio, Michigan, Iowa.
