Anyone else watching this, good cast with Richard Wilson as Gaius, (still waiting for him to say i don't believe it) and  Anthony Head as Uther Pendragon and John Hurt as the voice of the dragon. Imho i think its as good as Dr Who.
its a far better thing i do than i have ever done

I've been watching it and think it's one of the better casts of Merlin. I'm not much in the swords and sorcery bit of Merlin; I like the ones that portray him a man with 'extra' gifts (ala Mary Stewart's books).
Insert wonderfully creative signature here …

I've been watching it despite myself - a guilty pleasure I guess. Every time I see Merlin, though, I can't help but think of a Metro review that described the actor as having "a face like a slapped haddock".  ;D It's true, too!

Brilliant, thank you.  I'll see if the rest of the series is still on the BBC player.

I rushed home to see this yesterday, and was pretty dissapointed.  Seemed rather ham-fisted to me - too many slow-mo moments, lacking in depth.  Like a kids show.

I'll have to watch more, to see if it was just that episode.
...the whole damn thing will turn
and return redefined, rearranged, rearranged...

In a way, it kind of is... the various BBC mini-series that are aired on either Saturday or Sunday nights are usually aimed at the entire family, so a lot of them do have younger elements in them so that it can be enjoyed by children as well as adults. It's even described as a kid's show in a newspaper article in a review of the first episode. Some other past weekend mini-series have included 'The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe' and 'Five Children and It' as well as 'Robin Hood' and 'Doctor Who'.
