tea is tea.

That's what I was thinking.  It all tastes the same to me.

I like orange pekoe when I'm in the mood for something light and refreshing.  When I'm looking for some a bit heavier, with more a kick, I go for English tea.  They are both equally as good, but for different reasons.

I agree - as someone else mentioned, orange pekoe is good for iced tea (IMO too), but when I lived in the US and tried to make it as hot tea, stepping it longer, it always tasted like the tea bag to me!!  Haven't looked for orange pekoe here, but maybe I will next summer and introduce DH to 'real' iced tea (he likes the bottled stuff in the US, I don't).

All teabags taste a bit like teabag to me. Loose tea really is better.

And bottled or canned ice tea is...yech.

When hubs and I are visiting the US we always have difficulty finding the right milk to go in our tea....so we end up trying lilke2 % and 1 %....it just doesnt taste the same in tea....we always bring our own PG tips tea bags...I think i noticed the local Krogers sells it now!!

I love when we go to restaurants in america...hubs gets strange looks when he asks the waitress for tea...(as it seems not as many men drink tea over there :)) and then the always forget to bring out the millk...and he also has to ask for hot tea....as noone usually orders it...they seem to prefer iced tea..

We bring our own tea over when we go to the US, and it never tastes right, so it must be down to the different tasting water and milk.

I like US tea (orange pekoe, or whatever it's called) fine for drinking without milk, but with milk it never tastes right.

lipton's as a hot tea tastes like boiled underpants. it's fine for iced tea, though.

give me yorkshire or give me death.

My Yorkshire builder tells me that Yorkshire brand tea is like the sausage of teas - made from all the scraps they sweep off the floor.  :P  He swears by Tetleys and now has me drinking it.  :)

(He was appalled when he first started working for me & all I had on offer were Taylors of Harrogate, Earl Grey, etc.  He said usually people who are coffee drinkers will have crap teas around the house.  [smiley=laugh4.gif])

My apologies.  ;)

Lipton's is really nasty. I don't drink iced tea, but it won't work at all as hot tea. I couldn't get any British teas when I lived in the US, and the closest I ever got was Red Rose, which was still a pale imitation - though loads better than Lipton.
