Hello, all--

I'm doing much better, thanks to those who asked.  I'm officially a full week behind on school work now (MUST catch up today...), but I can breathe without coughing and that is definite progress.

Josy-- I've been wanting to ask a fellow Cat-lick, and as you've brought it up....do you know if the Church is that picky with getting married by a priest in the UK?  My boyfriend and I have discussed this and he tends to have no idea  ::)  I know they're a bit nutty about it on this side of the pond, but I'm hoping they're a bit more laid back about it there...especially since weddings seem to be arranged kind of in a hurry when the fiance visa route is taken.

That said, I've seen some of the couples who have been married in Catholic churches here (I play bagpipes for weddings....many many weddings have been seen in my day), and all I have to say is...if they let them marry, they HAVE to let you marry! I'd say at least the LDR thing is a testament to your commitment.  Good luck with your tests though!  Let us know what kinds of stuff they ask!

Also, I've found those space saving bags work wonders.  Especially for keeping dirty laundry separate from the clean stuff in your suitcase.

I hope everyone else has a lovely and warm Friday/weekend!  Apparently it's going to be quite warm in DC this weekend, and I am at home in Pennsylvania in bed.  Figures!

I'll let you know how they work when I pack in about a month or so. Still need to go get some big suitcases though.

the bags are actually pretty good. i got some at target that you just roll the air out of, but they saved a lot of room.

I actually played piano until about 6th grade and REALLY hated it.  I begged my parents to let me quit and they said if I did, I'd have to learn another instrument.  So I said "okay, I want to play bagpipes", thinking that we'd never find a teacher.  Luckily (or unluckily) for me, we happened to find a pipe band less than three miles from my house.  I've been playing since 6th grade. Holy crap, that's like 8 years.  Time flies... haha

And Chi_Chi: I haven't noticed a huge difference with weight when using those bags.  That could be a problem with using them-- you may over pack without really realizing it since everything will fit so wonderfully.  Be careful about that!

my suitcase wasn't heavier either. another good thing about the bags is if you need to pack liquids in your suitcase, your clothes will be protected from any leaks. that is a something that i always worry about even though i've never had a problem yet.

Oh yes, I know those bags.  I used three of them in my suitcase when I went to stay with Ian in Oct.  And it didn't make me over pack, but I DID have to use a smaller suitcase anyway....lol.

And Josy, I'll send you a message on Facebook with the link to the site where I got the flags from.  Ian thinks they're cool.

*sighs*

Now I'm tired, and can't think anymore...lol.  Going to watch Baby Mama here...anyone seen it before?

Hey y'all! DId you have a good birthday, Chi_Chi? I agree, the weekend went WAY too fast. I was in complete denial that it was Monday this morning.

Carey- how was the weekend in DC?? How was the dress? Well, uh, received? ;D

Josy- did you have fun with the girls? Only a few more days for you now!! Woooo!

I went to see "He's just not that into you" with my sister on Sat. Total chick flick, but it was cute! I love the Mac guy!! hehe Otherwise, not much else going on. Worked Sat. (yay! NOT) and yesterday worked around the house a bit and went running. Back to the grindstone again today. At least I've discovered that I can listen to yahoo music through my yahoo msgr acct here at school! Music makes me happy. Did anyone see the grammies last night, btw? What was up with Katy Perry's dress?! Plastic fruit glued on it or something? Plus she sounded like a BAD American Idol contestant! My boy Paulie (McCartney) sounded great, though! I think I'm in love all over again! lol

Anyway, back to eating lunch and relaxing for 15 mins more. Wooo.

Ciao ladies!

I saw "He's Just Not That Into You" last night. I liked it, thought it was cute. Not as cute and happy as I was hoping, but still cute.

Missed the Grammies and Masterpiece Theatre's second installment of Sense and Sensability. Saw the start of it last time I was in England and never saw the rest, so I was really excited when I saw it was on here. I'm reading the book though and have never read it before, so I don't want to ruin the ending. I'll have to rent it or hope it plays on BBC after I finish the book I guess.

Birthday was good. We had a birthday party for my nephew and brother in law on Saturday and they got me a Godiva Chocolate Cheesecake Factory Cheesecake. And I ate WAY too much of it. :) But it was fun. Wore me out, so I was pretty lazy all day Sunday.

Starving and T minus 40 minutes till lunch time.

Chi Chi I totally forgot the 2nd half of Sense and Sensibility was on...that is my 2nd favorite Jane Austen book...my first is Persuasion....I watched the BAFTAs on BBC America...it was ok...they were very formal and nothing really funny happened...

About the bags def let me know how they work...I am glad some others on here have used them...I think I am going to use them when I pack my boxes to ship them over...

Beth my day with the Girls was good..everyone bought their bridesmaids dresses so that is taken care of..now I have to get my 2 little neices their dresses...that will be the fun part...

Oh get this the girl I met at the MAC counter in the mall in July was going to do my makeup for the wedding...but she got called to LA to do a show for 4 weeks...well after that was over she was offered 2 more jobs and she stayed out there...she does celebrities makeup....she said she might still be able to do my makeup and would just come home and visit her family while she was here...then I could say I have a celebrity makeup artist doing my makeup hehehe...I just thought that was funny...

Hope Carey is having a great time.....

Brittany...I love how you said Cat Lick...yeah they are very strict over here...now the priest in Brixham is very laid back...he even said we didn't need to get Pre Cana if we didn't want so I don't think they would be as rigid as over here...from what I am finding out about these questionaires and tests is that they just want to see if you are compatible...I don't know why I have to have an interview and take a test...

So how is everyone?

digitalsea how are you?

Shanthi how are things going?

Have we heard from Becca in awhile?

anyone else who is new here come on in and talk to us....

Oh went to the Melting Pot on Friday night...let me just say that melted chocolate with things to dip in it is the best thing ever created hehehehe....it was FABULOUS!!!!

lol

I really liked Baby Mama, Chi.  Was cute.  And your cake sounds AMAZING.  *drools*

And Beth, can you believe I couldn't stay awake to see Paul last night?!  I'll have to check it out on YouTube later tonight if I can stay awake...lol.

How's everyone else?

And I'm anxious for Carey to get home from DC...lol. :D

My weekend was far too short, and the week looks to be far too long.  (Beth, I don't know how you manage to work 2+ jobs and run errands/clean house/etc...it's been weeks since I've grocery shopped, and my house is a mess.)

In more pleasant news, my mom claims to have found (and possibly even mailed) all the documents I need for the citizenship application.  Now I just need my two referrals to vouch for my good character, and ~$700 for the processing fee(s).

I was looking at house swaps last night as well.  Someone with a 2br/2ba flat on the Thames wants to hang out in NC (of all places) from Sept-Oct 09.  Wonder if they'd care if there were some animals and a roommate here to share the place? ;)

The Melting Pot sounds awesome...I've been meaning to go, and never found an excuse.

I hope everyone else's week is starting off well.

OH, btw - I FINALLY got my wedding pictures!! YAY! They're really good too. There's a ton of them, but I still wish we were able to do more. The wedding went so quickly though! You think an hour for pictures is a long time, but it really isn't. For those of you getting married, maybe allot a little more time than that.

Back from DC and feeling a major cold coming on... Thats the price I pay for air travel - I swear EVERY time I fly I get sick.  Someone remind me to take Airborne next time I go anywhere please!

Glad you are feeling better Brittany.. it was very warm in DC - record temps at DCA they said. I didnt even need a jacket most of the time.

Oh and re: packing, look up the "bundle method" if you are interested. I looks like it wont work at all, but in my opinion its even better than space saver bags and allows you to get a lot in a small suitcase, without going way over on the weight.

Whats everyone's Valentine's Day plans?
