JEP!!! OMG I would have killed him too! Alan would have been the first flying englishman:)

So I think we may have to start another thread! how to get back at your fiance for being so mean....hmmmm....obviously it will have to wait for a good time a while after you have been together (living) you don't want to pi** him off too early haha.  hmmm let me sleep on this sister.  Mirra and I will have an emergency meeting at the local pub on Friday and sort this out hahaha  ;D

Ahhh the delayed Ireland trip...
I proposed and she said yes and I gave her the ring. The look on Jamie's face was beautiful, I remember how happy she looked... but it was the wrong size! 90 minutes later she was giving it back to the jeweller for resizing, I remember how disappointed she looked (the bottom lip was the killer)
It'll be ready Tuesday (the day we travel to Ireland)
"I'm not going to Ireland without my ring"  ::) OK! We will go straight after you get it back, dear. No problem!
She had me calling them, chasing them making sure they were fully aware of the situation. We got the ring at dinnertime and set off in car to Holyhead.
All the way there out of the corner of my eye I could see her looking at it from every angle close up, far away with out stretched arm and the best TAKING PHOTOGRAPHS of it haha and all this continued on the ferry and in Ireland and on the way back to Middlewich and in Middlewich and....well I think you get the picture? Berrrrrrling!!!

LOL Jamie is awesome!  Taking pictures of the ring on her hand is a MUST!  I WILL do that one day :)

There needs to be a Jamie and Alan movie!  Any producers in the house??

JEP - that is totally something David would do and I would punch him in the face if he did!!  Good girl for hitting him - he had that coming!

By the way, I'm Carey, Jamie is Jamie who are you JEP? :)

Oh, and yes, emergency meeting at the pub for sure!  My mom gave me an engagement ring an ex-fiance gave her.  I should wear it so I dont feel left out being around Jamie and her ring!  :D

Random thing that made me laugh just now:

I was getting gasoline this morning and it was really windy, so when I pulled the thingie from my car, gas sprayed on me...

I just spoke to David I said "I got gasoline on my pants this morning"... he was quiet for a minute and then he said "ohhh. I thought you said 'I put vasoline in my pants this morning!' (pants being underwear to the English).

Suppose I should have said "I got PETROL on my TROUSERS".  Note to self: must stop saying pants if I move to England!!

Hi Carey and Jamie I'm Josy...it is nice to finally meet you all lol....I love this group and the stories here just get more and more interesting...I think we need to make a movie about our little group here...We will call it "All the girls and 1 boy" that is for you Alan...unless there are other men on here that I don't know about....

I wish I could come to the pub lol but I have to go to a meeting right now I will be back later...

Yeah I hit Jason and he deserved it at that time...but I love him to much to acutally do any damage...hehe

Yes Jamie and Alan def need to be made into a movie a romantic comedy...but then ladies I don't want to have to start wearing pictures of Jamie around my neck with a circle and a line thru it like we have to for Cameron...because she gets to be sappy and happy in love while the rest of us patiently wait lol

HAHAHA! I only just learned this summer what pants are to Brits. I figured that trousers was just the preferred word but that that they knew what "pants" meant here! I can only imagine how many times I've embarrassed myself with that one!

when I was in Brixham this past summer I was making fun of my friends husband...He let me be a guide in the ghostwalk they give there in the summer...I was Jezzabell Josephine lol...so I would go to their house to change and he would be getting changed at the same time and always come walking out in his underwear...I forgot that they call underwear pants...and I said to him and his wife,"I am going to come over one day and drop my pants in front of you and show you my hello kitty underwear"...well my girlfriend got this horrified look on her face and said why would you take off your pants in front of my husband...well I looked at her for a few minutes and then I started laughing. I realized she thought I meant my underwear...I said I would never do anything like that and I explained what I was trying to say....I am very careful now when I say pants and trousers lol

But that is a great phone conversation Carey....hehe vasoline and underwear hehe

LOL Josy - woopsie!
The Pants/Trousers thing is the only one that really trips me up.  I have a fear I will slip infront of his parents or someone who doesnt know that Americans call trousers pants, but have not yet, so far!  (that I know of...)
I also once told him that I only packed 2 pairs of pants (meaning jeans!) for my trip to England and he was horrified by that!  Not 2 pairs of undies, dummy!
We'll practice here using the accepted terminology...

I bought some cute Christmas PANTS for my HOLIDAY in England at Target yesterday :)

hahah this is great! And yes I have a story to go with this one too...though not nearly as good as Josy's hehe.  Last time Alan cam, like 2 weeks ago my mom and dad and I went to pick him up at the airport.  We are all walking through the parking lot and my mom (purposely) said Wow Alan nice pants haha.  The lookon his face could have burnt a hole right through her hahaha

2 pairs of pants hahahha

GGTL - we need your real name too (or permission to use it since I already know it) because your name is just toooo long to type :)

And then, you girls (and any other American infiltraters) are invited to Jamie and my Fourth of July Crazy Girls Night in London! We'll talk about pants really loud, drink beer, wear red/white/blue sparkly outfits and scare all the natives!  Wooo!

Oh.. i just had a horrible twinge of desperately missing my David.  This is when the sad movie music would play and then it would flash to him missing me too...  (although I think hes playing squash at he moment...)  ps. who plays squash anyway??  Nerd.

Ok I can help with using some of the appropriate british language as my friends would never let up on me when I was in England....

American      British
Sidewalk      Pavement
Sneakers     Trainers
Pants          Underwear
Sick            Poorly
Basement    Cellar

I will have to think of more as we go along

I will def be up for a 4th of July in London...I did have a 4th of July party in Brixham this year and it went over great...I made hamburgers and potato salad and my friends went crazy over it ...they all wore red white and blue and talked in really bad american accents...and for this one night they weren't allowed to correct my english.....

oh I love the sparkles idea for our red white and blue for 4th of July

I am with you Carey ...I miss Jason...and I can hear the sad music....but this room has been great at helping me get over the missing him lol

It's Beth! I normally have another screen name I use for every other website. But someone I know had googled me by that name and found all sorts of  posts (out of context so it sounded odd!) so I decided to do something different here. Thinking about it later, I should have gone with kensington as that's where I dream of living. :)

As for the 4th, I just may be in London then and could join y'all. I love the idea of scaring the natives! It makes me think of that doofy actress woman (was in those movies about the other doofy girl who goes to Harvard and becomes a lawyer?) who in one of her movies went ALL OUT with the USA flags on her clothing, hair, etc.... ;D

Funny thing about the brit vs. american words. Today in class, I was trying to say something about an ad or commercial. The only word that came to mind was "advert." I knew it was the wrong (american) word, but just couldn't come up with the right (american) word! I'm constantly "translating" in one of my classes that has a kid from Wembley in it. He's fresh off the boat so to speak, so I try to help him out! LOL
