I watch too many romantic movies!

i'm trying to finish up a manuscript of my poems and get a book published and we decided that i can use the time not working to really put in a lot of effort to finish that up and he is completely supportive of me taking the time to do that.  i've gone from being absolutely scared of not working (i'm a bit of a workaholic/over-achiever...i worked 3 jobs in college!) to being thrilled at the prospect of having time to write and get settled!  it will be the first time since college that i've been able to fully devote myself to my writing and i feel so much better reframing how i'm looking at this move.  now i just have to make sure i remain this positive for the next 4 months! 

What kind of visa are you coming over on?  If your visa stipulates that you can't work (ie a fiancee visa or visitor visa) then you can't work at all, and that includes working on your book - there's a thread elsewhere on the board where someone wanted to work on their novel while here on a fiancee visa and the general consensus is that it's technically work, so be careful!

She's doing Tier 1 if I remember correctly, so she can do whatever her heart desires   Lucky girl!

Thank goodess everything worked out in the end for your yesterday, Chi.   Your husband sounds so much like my fiance - I feel for you big time!!  But you are right: if they were anything other than exactly how they are, we probably wouldnt be so attracted to them. My fingers are crossed that you will be one of those who hears back in a matter of days!

Dev, what kind of questions did they ask you? I know I'll be fine, but that still makes me nervous. I hate being put on the spot like that. That's one reason I wanted to get my app off yesterday so the courier could get it today and get it over to the consulate right away. So hopefully I will hear something before Monday and I can start to figure out if I can really be there when I'm planning to and get the ball rolling with work, etc.

It was really weird, because everything they asked me was right there in the application packet.  They asked me if my husband was employed.  I said that he currently has a contract with such-and-such company and that I had included it in the packet.  There was a bit of paper-ruffling and she finally found it.  Then she asked me when I was planning on going to the UK and I said March 22 (this was printed directly on the paper copy of the online app).  Then she thanked me and said goodbye.  I was totally stunned, and all I could do was thank her and say goodbye, too.  So she just left me hanging there, not knowing whether she would contact my husband, or which way my application was leaning.  I hung up so confused, not having any idea if I was any closer to having my spousal visa.  Thankfully, it all worked out, but that day was SO confusing.

sorry to bum anyone out...but we went in for our dating scan today and found out that the baby actually died 3 weeks ago, I just haven't miscarried yet so.......we probably are going to be hiding out for a while it's really jsut too much for me to handle:(

Shhh - no there is not Beth, thanks for asking    The wine might help, seriously.. I noticed when I was quite sick not to long ago that a few glasses helped me over the hump.  Maybe coincidence, maybe not, but its worth a try!

hahaha. Could work. Looks kind of like cough syrup!! Of course I'm sure the good hard sleep it will help you get will be beneficial. I think I might join you in that venture. 1 hour left at work. And I'm making dinner for my friend and her dad and son tonight, so should be fun. And tomorrow's friday!!

I called the courier to make sure they got my package (can we say anxious much???). She was with a client but politely told me she'd call me when she opened it and went through the app. Hopefully that's tonight!! I'm so excited!! I've already started getting butterflies in my stomach when I think about seeing DH.
