ALB- shopping centre is smaller. Have you been to an American mall? Plus, shopping centre can be for the shops around say, a Walmart or Target that are completely different than a mall. At least here in the states. Maybe shopping centre has a different connotation over there in Britain?

Mirra- I vote for #2, as well! :)

"Just nipping to the shops" is perfect.. thats sure to get us some strange looks in America.  I'm using it!

Its good to learn words from Alan (Northern) and from David (Southern) and Jason (...remind me where Jason is..), then we've got it all covered :)

seriously girls - we're lame.  and I love it!

Anna, the link works, but do you pay the shipping costs for each item you choose?  Just curious....

I think you do pay separately for shippig each item since they are "free".

I just started a new thread on gifts for men to generate ideas....

He says he only wants to spend the day with me on his bday, it would make him feel bad if I got him a gift since we couldn't afford for him to get me one this year because I moved here 3 weeks before my bday.  He did buy me a huge bouquet of stargazer lillies (my fave and our wedding flower) and took me to lunch and sightseeing in Newcastle that day, so I guess I will try to think of something nice for us to do that day (we will have his 2 year old son that weekend, so something family oriented, but and we will also most likely be hungover from a leaving-do for our coworkers the night before his bday)
Still, we are going to get each other some stuff for Christmas, and have given a few ideas for each other so far, but more input is needed....  :P

Eh up Ow at, indeed hahaha
(a classic northern greeting)

Gotta - size is not important.....well not in mall\shopping centre terms

I see the thread is female prodominantly because one person mentions shopping and nothing else matters after that hahaha

interesting how Alan decided to comment on the whole shopping thread...hmmmm maybe he is a secret shop o holic....hehehe Jaime will be able to tell us

well the mall I went to in Plymouth was only 2 floors and I don't really consider it a mall...you haven't seen mall till you come to Pennsylvania to King of Prussia...it is the 2nd largest mall in america...400 stores and counting...and it is only 10 minutes from my house hehehe

I can say from experience that Alan is not a shop-o -holic lol...but very patient with me when we are walking and he is in mid sentence and I start walking sideways saying mmmm shoes...hahahah ;D

400 store???? Oh my very very overwhelming indeed.

I think the closest "shopping area" to where I'm going to live is Chester and YAY it's a whole little city dedicated soley to the purpose of breaking ones husband

Gah, I remember when the big thing was having enough stores for each day of the year, now it's over 400?!  I haven't been out since Oct 2007 :(.  I miss being a mallrat.

Jersey Mallrats. Represent, Yo. ;) :P

Translation: Hello, How are you? Obvious really?

Chester has Chester + Cheshire Oaks for shopping

Chester is especially suited to the Alan & Jamie dayout experience because opposite every shoe shop there is a pub (stick with me because I know what you're think but your wrong!) so as Jamie starts walking sideways towards the shoes and I start walking sideways towards the pub...our shoulders just push tighter together and we actually walk in a straightline (proving Newton's third law:"To every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.") the result being to anyone witnessing it we are just a loving couple out for a stroll, and we spend nothing!

LOL omg Alan that is actually the sweetest example of a lovely relationship I think I have ever heard!

I will consider myself lucky that the poshy-poshers in Surrey dont require much translation in their speech and I think if I tried to "eh up ow at" them, they may think I was choking, so I think I wont try :)

Upon further research of this Chester place, it appears that there is the largest designer outlet centre in the UK there, including a MARKS & SPENCER OUTLET!  omg. I'm coming to visit!
