I'm  back.

I was updating facebook via my phone on the way back, and Tim IMed my phone when I was nearly home - his sister was on Facebook while he was over at his parent's house and sent him home to talk to me when she saw my status that I was almost home. Aww.

My trip was fun, except for my aunt.  I'm really at my wits end with her and I don't know what to do. I mean, I know she's old (77), but that doesn't give her an excuse to act the way she was acting.  Anytime anyone asked me about Tim, she left the room or got a nasty look on her face.  She called him "whats his name" and she left the room if anyone asked me about moving to the UK.  Funny enough, my MOM doesn't have a problem with my move at all, and wants me to do what will make me happy....so what's my aunt's problem?!

Awww, Josy and Lily those are great stories...very romantic!

Becca, that's too bad about your aunt.  There really isn't anything you can do to control how she acts.  People are funny sometimes!

I know, but it should!  If you're willing to "award" excessively bad behavior (with a pink slip), you should also do the same for excessively good behavior.  I'll get over it, but in the meantime it does still rankle.  (My department has a history of being really bad about acknowledging above-and-beyond performance.)

I can relate...the last company I worked for was notorious for not acknowledging the hard work many of the employess put in...some were working 15-20 hours overtime every week on a regular basis.

Not knowing your aunt, I wouldn't know, but perhaps she's jealous of your opportunities?  Alternately, she may feel like you are rejecting her/your family here by wanting to move abroad to be with "strangers" (as she would probably view them).

Sorry to hear that she's still upset, though, that's got to be stressful.  At least the rest of the trip was fun. :)

Sorry to hear about your trip Becca :( I know older people can be stubborn sometimes and set in their ways but in this case it's a tiny bit childish if she's acting like that. I can understand how she'd be a little upset because she might see you as 'abandoning' the family or somesuch, but equestrianerd has a point--maybe she wishes she had been able to do something like that (maybe not *exactly* like that, but something big and life-changing) and she may be upset or jealous or whatever. But either way she's not a 2 yr old, she needs to either get over it, or be honest with you at least so you guys can hash it out.

As for me, here I sit :P Steve's flight is coming into Newark, then he has to go through immigration so I'll be waiting for something from him within the next couple hours. I couldn't sleep last night even though I took a Tylenol PM, I just kept tossing and turning, urgh. Once he's through his layover in Newark, he hops a flight out to Portland and he should be in town around 9pm PST. Now I just need to keep myself busy  :-[

Nope, everything is booked and I think it's sorted, just need to get the license tomorrow to get it out of the way. The whole wedding thing is extremely casual since me and Steve are kinda like that, though we'll have some sort of reception thing in the UK--I'm finding it hard to relax until I have my visa :P

Edit: just got a call from Steve--he's already through immigration and checked back in, so now he just has to wait till his next flight leaves. They only asked him what he was here for, he was honest with them and they took his fingerprints and waved him and his son through. I think I got asked more questions in Newark that than :P

Hello ladies!

I've fallen behind on the posts, but just did a quick scan.

Becca, I'm sorry about your aunt.  It does definitely seem like older people have a hard time grasping that the Atlantic isn't as big and scary these days as it used to be.

I've FINALLY finished school, and managed dean's list after what was the most stressful semester yet.

Also, DBF is visiting.  He got through immigration with no problems on Thursday.  I was so worried for absolutely nothing.  So we've been chilling out now for about five days.  And it has been absolutely splendid. haha. My birthday is on Thursday and I am overjoyed to finally have him around for some form of holiday.

I promise I'll get back into the swing of things now that I don't have school work to be doing!

Congratulations...that has to be a big relief!  Have fun while DBF visits!

Ladies, I am off to visit DF today...flight leaves at 4:30.  Forgot my passport at home, so have to make a detour back home, before heading to the airport.  Hope everyone has a nice holiday weekend.  I'll be back on Monday.

Have a lovely trip!  (Good thing you realized you'd forgotten your passport now, not when you were already at the airport!)

Thank you.

I know...I am so glad I thought about it right when I got to work.  I was tempted to go back home then, but figured I could just leave work a bit earlier to go get it!  ;D

Gosh Cella! That would have been the first thing I would have packed and last thing I checked before i left the house! I'm so paranoid I will forget my passport one day, à la Rachel on Friends when she was trying to fly to London for Ross' wedding! lol Bon voyage! How long are you staying? Whereabouts in UK will you be?

Lilybelle- welcome back (to reality!) SOunds like you've got a  lot going on, too. When exactly will you be in Cambridge? We definitely should plan to meet the day I go visit the city. I've got a fair amount of flexibility on dates so let me know what works for you. :)

I can't believe it's getting down to 10 days till I leave! I've got so much to do, but I'm so ready to leave!! I just found out I will be moving classrooms for next year now (from the posh language lab room to the trailer outside. BOOOOOO). I was SO not planning on having to pack up my room! Nor am I in the mood to move rooms (AGAIN). Grf. I guess this will be a good to start purging since I can't take everything with me when I leave the school after next year...

Carey- I know you probably won't check in here, but I hope you're having a fabu time with your hubby!!! ;)

Patty, Jamie, Josy- what's up girls? Long time, no hear!

And the rest of you.. hope you all make it smoothly through hump day. 2 1/2 days till the weekend now! lol (glass half full.. glass half full....)

Ciao!
