sarah: haha it may have been a good thing i didn't end up joining you then, as my future in-laws arrived to town that evening...may have made a terrible impression had i shown up with a few drinks already in my system!   what's the plan with your boyfriend for after you leave?  do you know when you will see him next?

Kerri, I'm not sure.  We're still deciding.  I want to go to grad school in the states at UNLV (Ross went there too) so we'll have to see if I get in there or anywhere. (I'm a musical theatre actress, my bf is a playwright)   I'm guessing he'll propose at some point, but I try not to be too "Monica" about the whole thing.

ohh, did he do an MFA at UNLV? that's a great program, i've heard!  i have an MFA in poetry. good luck with all the planning/decisions!   

There is a good chance that I might be in the UK in August too! DF and I are talking about me visiting another time, before the wedding.

Yup he did an MFA in Playwrighting at UNLV, he's pretty much an amazing writer.  He won the Edward Albee award last year and has done some amazing stuff, so I'm lucky to have him in my corner.  He thinks I'm a great fit for UNLV and has talked to everyone on the board about how amazing he thinks I am.    They only take actors every other year, so I'm lucky to be in the right place at the right time.  Fingers crossed, it would be so wonderful for both of us.  

Kerri- You're a poet!  That's amazing.    Where did you do your MFA?

Yay another Carey derivative that isnt Carrie!  ... and Kerri, isnt yours a David also, or is that someone else?   I would love to meet up with you both and anyone else in early August.

sarah: wow, that sounds like a great fit for you!  i am indeed a poet, or, at least, i try to be!  i did my mfa at unc-greensboro in north carolina--two amazing years that went by way too quickly.  i miss it! 

carey: yep, mine is another david! too funny! where in the uk will you be again?  would be so wonderful if we could all organize something!

I'll be in Surrey, but can easily make it into London via train. I'd really love to organize something even if its really soon after I get there so that its before Sarah leaves
It looks like I will be there August 14th!  I found an airfare I cannot pass up, so I think I have to book and hope hope hope that there are no troubles with my visa!  Omg.. I may actually be having a slight panic attack at the "realness" of everything... someone tell me thats "normal"??

Last night was the last web cam night until I actually get to see him (18 days) He works on an oil rig so 2 weeks on the rig so only phone calls.  How excited am I to know I will get to have him in front of my face soon enough!

I am hoping it will settle my nerves.

I need to know how customs works when you come into the US (first port of entry) but you have a connecting flight to catch? Typically time it takes?

He is flying into DFW @ 440 and the flight to here is at 605...Airlines assures me plenty of time but here is the kicker - that is the LAST direct flight out on Friday the 3rd...I would need to drive to Dallas on 4th of July Friday - HA the traffic alone it might be faster to take a 7 hour flight to get here....

so please any experience you have or information to make me calm would be greatly appreciated ;-)

Don't worry too much.  Tell him to be honest with customs, and he'll be fine.  This is his second short trip in a year, correct? My bf has only has one issue (he had a US visa and it was just his first stamp on the new one), and he has traveled back and forth multiple times with a visa and also on his passport.  Sometimes, it's easy to just read the bad stories and forget the majority has no issues.

I was just worried because DFW is HUGE and if you have to go all the way out, wait for your bag and then re-check in ect...seems like that would be a TIGHT squeeze.

I made it through Canadian customs (on route to the UK from SFO) in under 60 minutes, tight security and with a guitar.  But, I'm kinda a bad a*s, according to the bf.
