so, I am now a married woman of two weeks :D (well, as of Thursday)

I'm still working on a big post about the wedding, but pics are up on facebook for those of you who I'm friends with there. (and if i'm not, you can add me - search for beccajanestclair)

Our Florida/Disney honeymoon was just what we needed together after constantly being around family for the week leading up to the wedding.  Tim went back on Monday (:(). Tomorrow I'm going to send in my passport to get my name changed on it, and then once I get that back, it's visa time!  Current plans are for me to move mid-January.

Yay!

I hope you mean now. ;) At any rate, yay! That's super exciting. Looks like a few of us may be moving over around the same time.

HAH!  Yes, I meant "now". Whoops. *goes off to edit*

Will you be in London?  Once I have my rail pass, I'll have free rail travel and I plan on coming down to London to muck around, so hopefully I'll see you!

It depends on where I find a job, but yes, most likely I'll be in London. Looking on the job sites, there are about 10-50 times as many jobs that meet my qualifications in London than...well, pretty much anywhere else in the UK combined. ;)

COngrats on the wedding!! That is wonderful glad you had such a good time on your honeymoon!

Well it is the countdown!!!! 8 days till Thanksgiving at Jo's!!! I got the goods today form my mom! Libbey's pumpkin pie!  (those of you that haven't moved yet will learn the frustration of never being able to find the American items you really really want)

lol let's see oh ya 22 days till we find out sex!

AND 32 days until we go back to the states!!! it'll be one year and 6 days since the last time I hugged my mama! So excited for that! Not sure what it's going to be like flying or traveling for 14 hours while 22 weeks pregnant! Have to go shopping for a nice trecky suit and fly socks hehe I think I should go for bright red or green but Alan won't let me! I think I am going to make matching reindeer shirts and see what my mom says HAHAHA can you tell I'm excited??

Hope you all are well!

Me - I am getting nervous - no no not about the wedding heck that is the easy part ;-)
Its the sellign everything in my house and moving.  Kevin is so nervous I will hate it and pick up and leave.  I am a much stronger person then that GEEZ PLUS I can drive for a year (practice) with his car and with Elly and Julia there I will go where I need too if I need some Texas talk...

I will be on UKY once I start to apply for the visa and get all crazy on the waiting and moving! Oh packing your life into a few boxes and suitcases which I never though I had to do.

Yay Jaime and Patty are coming to the southwest for Thanksgiving...it is my first Thanksgiving dinner and hopefully I won't poison anyone lol...And we are going to have the ceremonial Christmas Lighting at our house woohoo..that is when the holidays officially start woohoo...

Congrats on the wedding Jenn

Congrats on your marriage Rebecca

Congrats to Jaime for not letting the hormones over take her and have her kill her husband lol

Eques I have my fingers crossed for you on the job front...

Well my job hunting and being rejected for 2 months paid off..I applied online at Sainsbury's and answered 31 questions and passed that part and had an interview on Monday and I got offered the job today woohoo..I will be working part time at Sainsburys for the month of Dec. If I do well they will ask me to stay past the first of January...so I am keeping my fingers crossed...

I am sorry I haven't written sooner on here. But I am going thru the depression stages of the moving from the US to the UK...and anyone who tells you when you move over here you won't have any of that doesn't know what they are talking about. Some of the women on this thread have helped me thru it. Jamie and Patty and Beth especially..I know I will have more days like that but I also am glad that I have you ladies to all talk to and vent to...so for the ladies who are just beginning their trek over here...just remember when you start adjusting and feel very alone you are not...we are here for you

Aw Josy! I know it's harder now at the holidays.... I love your idea of having the girls (and their boys!) over for a real Thanksgiving meal! That sounds llike so much fun. Hopefully this time next year, I'll be able to join you. And congrats on getting your first UK job!! (Yay for "UK experience!") I LOVE Sainsburys. I would have a blast working there. Especially the bakery. They have scones. *drool*

Jamie, I want to second what Jenn said- your enthusiasm and excitement are very contagious. I can imagine you jumping and clapping giddily! lol

And Jenn- he arrives tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!! Very excited for you! And to both you and Cella- Happy weddings and even happier honeymoons! *wink wink*  :D

Not much going on with me.. just working all the time to get my earnings to Tier 1 level (crossing fingers, praying, sending smoke signals to the universe.....) Looking forward to time off at Thanksgiving even more now! lol

Hope all is well with everyone! :)

Congrats on the job, Josy!

If you ladies could cross your fingers for me, and/or pray to the travel gods, I'm hoping to go to London today. Yesterday I did not really go anywhere, except to/from the parking garage at the airport and to/from the various airline agents' kiosks. I still haven't heard officially whether it was the FAA computer screwup or the weather in Philly that caused our plane to take off 4 1/2 hours late, but either way, it was late enough that there was no way I'd have made my connection.

The silver lining is that I did find my kitty before I left, so I know he won't starve all week (though he may die of boredom, or so he thinks), and at least I was booked on Thurs originally, not Friday, as I don't think there are any Saturday night flights over so I would've lost 2 days instead of 1.

Have a happy Thanksgiving everyone! I may go to the St. Paul's cathedral service (just for fun), but those are all the plans I have for that day. :)

Haha, it totally did. :( My counter's now claiming it's been 19 hours since I left for England, which is rather sad. (It did start off in month/week increments, though, I think it swapped to days/hours/seconds once it hit the 1 week mark.)

Anyway, back to the airport for attempt #2! (On the plus side, at least I can drive to Charlotte by 6pm if today's flight gets screwed up somehow...that wasn't really an option yesterday for going through Philadelphia. Hopefully not a concern, though, as I'd rather not do that!)

Just wanted to follow-up and say that I did make it safely with attempt #2 (though that also included a crying baby and a rude seat-neighbor on the plane so I got virtually no sleep!).

At any rate, my journey started off with lots of troubles (lost my bag, locked myself out of my relative's flat, etc), but I think I'm settled in now. (Just in time to go home in 3 days :()

Overall, I really like it so far. :) I don't mind the weather (though I'll need more layers once I move over), and almost everyone's been very friendly (I did get chewed out by someone over losing my bag and apparently shutting down a tube station because they had to bring in the bomb squad, and a couple of people were very condescending towards "the American", but that's been it). I love that I can get most places via a 10min walk (plus a possible tube ride), though my feet are not crazy about all the walking! (Turns out my shoes aren't nearly as comfortable as I thought, oops...)

I'm going out to a relative's for dinner tonight, and tomorrow I may go to the St Paul's cathedral service in the morning followed by tickets to a play in the evening. Friday I have no set plans, so I'll probably just wander around a bit and sightsee.

Happy day-before-Thanksgiving, everyone!

I have not posted on here for a long long time but I know a lot of people like Jamie, my wife. I just wanted to let you know on here that she is in hospital at the moment and has been since Thursday in a lot of pain (I NEED TO POINT OUT HERE THAT THE BABY IS FINE!) and they are struggling to find out why but have not ruled out appedicitis but because of the pregnancy they are struggling to find the cause.
I left her this evening very unhappy that she has to stay another night in hospital and would LOVE ot be going home but she is quite poorly and they need to just monitor her for a little while longer
Having said that when I did leave her she was uncomfortable but they were finaly managing her pain and she was looking forward to X Factor on TV (Not sure why?) but its a major step forward to the last couple of days when she was in excruciating pain.
I will keep you informed of how she is if she can't but for now I just wanted to let you know what was going on
