Just wanted to follow-up and say that I did make it safely with attempt #2 (though that also included a crying baby and a rude seat-neighbor on the plane so I got virtually no sleep!).
At any rate, my journey started off with lots of troubles (lost my bag, locked myself out of my relative's flat, etc), but I think I'm settled in now. (Just in time to go home in 3 days
)
Overall, I really like it so far.
I don't mind the weather (though I'll need more layers once I move over), and almost everyone's been very friendly (I did get chewed out by someone over losing my bag and apparently shutting down a tube station because they had to bring in the bomb squad, and a couple of people were very condescending towards "the American", but that's been it). I love that I can get most places via a 10min walk (plus a possible tube ride), though my feet are not crazy about all the walking! (Turns out my shoes aren't nearly as comfortable as I thought, oops...)
I'm going out to a relative's for dinner tonight, and tomorrow I may go to the St Paul's cathedral service in the morning followed by tickets to a play in the evening. Friday I have no set plans, so I'll probably just wander around a bit and sightsee.
Happy day-before-Thanksgiving, everyone!
