Yay!! I'm excited for you Carey. Lots of window seat vibes coming your way.

First official day of my winter break from school. I'm working at the running shop tonight so it's not completely off... Oh well. Lots to do before Thursday. Hopefully I can get it all in.

How are you ladies doing? Patty, that weather is crazy. It's precisely why I would never make it living up north!

Ok, gonna finish my morning coffee and try to get some errands done before work. Happy Monday!

Well it’s been a while since I wrote anything here, but its coming up to a week since Jamie arrived here “to live” and I thought I should let you know how I think it’s gone so far. The first day was quite hard because she missed her mum  :\\\'( and that coupled with jetlag was really tough to deal with but being able to talk to family and friends on the phone since has helped her immensely. [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]

It’s been such a relief for both of us to finally be together forever and to begin to share our lives. I know leaving was very draining physically and emotionally and I personally think she is the bravest person I know. What she has done is so huge it’s difficult to put into words how I feel about her and she was right in an earlier post when she said ‘there is NOTHING easy and painless about moving 4500 miles....’

It’s been nice to just do ordinary stuff together like cooking or shopping for groceries etc without the pressure of trying to cram it all in before one of us leaves. Jamie can now relax and take her time to adjust. Unfortunately I used all my holidays this year travelling to Denver so I’ve had to work everyday and also have to work 3 days over Christmas too which has been tough but my family and friends have all offered spend time with her and I’ve watched Jamie take it all in her stride.

The only really bad thing happened on Saturday... I broke her little toe!  [smiley=doh.gif] When I say ‘I broke her toe’ what actually happened was she was vacuuming in bare feet and kicked the leg of the sofa and apparently because I put the sofa there that means I am technically responsible for breaking her toe?  Not quite sure how that works but I took the blame anyway.  ???

Is her toe really BROKEN!?  Oh no!  And yes, sadly, in our crazy girl heads, you are indeed responsible and now have to take care of her :)

I have said it a million times, but I am so happy for both of you and I want to cry a little after reading that post.  I can only imagine what you both are feeling and am sure there is nothing quite like the completeness (is that a word??) you are experiencing right now.  Like when you come home and she is there waiting for you - how amazing that must be!!  No suitcases on the floor, no twinge of pain every morning when you wake up realizing you have one less day together than you had yesterday, no worrying when you will see eachother next... awww... Jamie and Alan's happily ever after is officially here!

Oh, and great job using the word vacuuming rather than hoovering.  That intimidating, scary, perfectly accented, girly, gets to hang out with my David all the time, Brit girl I spoke to the other day said "we call that hoovering" when I said I was vacuuming.  Duh. I know that, but I call it vacuuming, and I'm the one doing it, so I'm vacuuming.  But I digress...

I hope you and Jamie bought an "our first Christmas" ornament to always remind you of this time :)

Sweet post Alan! Glad to hear she's adjusting, despite the broken toe. Yoiks!

Point 1
Of course it's broken! Duh? Jamie wouldn't lie to me just to gain extra sympathy or make me feel worse than I already do......would she?

Point 2
Completeness, I can only speak for myself but I may just be the happiest man in the world but I can say on Jamie's behalf she looks happy she says she's happy and as I am typing this she is asleep on the sofa and I do believe she is smiling!

Point 3
I pondered using hoovering because that is indeed what it is called here and never vacuuming but because it was my funny story I wanted to make sure everyone got to the end without any confusion....I wish I'd stuck with hoovering on reflection

Point 4
No ornament I'm afraid but there is still time...

Point 5
Whats with all these points...?

Re: Point 1
OUCH.  Does she need any REAL pain reliever from America since yours tends to be wussy and worthless? :)

Re: Point 2
Get really close to her face and say BOO!! really loud to scare her as she's sleeping.  That will be funny (for me anyway, since she may punch you).  Ha!

Re: Point 3
David and I have decided that whomever initiates the phone call is entiled to use their local vocabulary and the other person has to conform. So in this instance, I started the thread, so MY vocabulary is always correct  :P

Re: Point 4
Get an ornament next time you are out before her.  Give it to her as a gift!

Re: Point 5
Points are an excellent way to break down a post which deals with many topics. I like it.

New point 6
I CANNOT FOCUS on any work today. I keep staring out my window and zoning out. 34 hours until I land in England!  Then I get hugs and kisses, Scampi Fries and Strongbow (in a proper pub!)... in that order since no one wants to kiss anyone after eating Scampi Fries, of course.

Re: New point 6
Point 6a  To hell with work...concentrate on your trip to England it's a far better use of time...

Point 6b  34 hours that means if Jamie and I look up on Wednesday morning and wave? Thats right Jamie and me will frickin retards haha YAY damn...

Point 6c  Definately hugs and kisses first followed by lots of strongbow then scampi fries because you have to be "rat arsed" to eat scampi fries [smiley=bleck.gif]

Point 6d  WOD 'rat arsed' meaning extremely drunk (which I hope everyone is at some point over christmas)

I wanted to get an ornament for Tim and I, but couldn't find one here, so I took a plain glass ornament and a paint pen and wrote "T & R our first Christmas 2008" on it and have it tucked into his stocking to find on Christmas morning! :D

Still having a good time and preparing for Christmas.  The uncle's services are on 5 January. I think Tim really appreciates having me here, though. and I'm so glad as I was supposed to leave today originally!

I got a call from David earlier today saying that "maybe you should bring a bigger case" ...as in 'you will have so much stuff to take home, bring the biggest luggage you have'.  So I will be repacking tonight!  Oi.  I'm freaking out a bit thinking of Christmas day with someone else's family.   I feel like getting rat arsed!!  ... but thats not good when one has to travel to following day, is it? :)

I'm thinking of watching the Holiday tonight... not sure if thats a good idea since I DO have to leave right before New Years.  It may increase my bitterness towards Cameron.

Have a beautiful, fabulous, wonderful Christmas everyone!  I will report when I return :)

Tim's grandparents gave his mum £25 to spend on me for Christmas!  She told me last night when she was over to see if there was anything I particularly wanted.  £25!  To me, that's a lot to spend on your grandson's girlfriend....but I guess everyone just knows how serious this is.....I mean, Tim and I spent £25/family member *together*....but it was mostly him picking stuff out and me adding my name to the tag!

Josy- I'm great! Thanks for asking. :) How are you?

Carey- so excited for you!! I will be thinking of you as you take off... what time is the flight? Oh and no need to be nervous! It will be great!!! I think you should definitely watch The Holiday and just cut it off before that last bit so you don't get angry. ;)

Becca- so sorry to hear about Tim's uncle. It's wonderful you were both able to see him recently, though. I'm sure your presence is of great comfort to Tim. *hugs*

Ok. Total confession. I have absolutely nothing done for Christmas presents yet!! Well, I got my brother's gift which is stupid bc I won't even see him till after New Year's to give it to him! I need something for my Mom, Dad, and sister. And tomorrow I'm getting my hair done (color/cut) at 11:30 which will take a couple of hours, then lunch with an old friend afterwards. Oh, then a last minute get together with some neighbors where I need to bring an appetizer to share at 7! Yikes! I've worked myself into a hole. :( At least I'm feeling better. The plan was to shop this weekend, but I just was not feeling up to it yesterday. Hopefully I'll at least find some good sales due to my procrastination.....

Ok, time for spaghetti, Leffe and hockey. Lovely Monday night!
