WOW! Well, it took me three days but I've finally finished reading this thread. I knew I should have started reading it sooner, but I was just a LITTLE busy with a wedding and all. And to be honest, now I don't know what I will fill my time with at work!!

Of course, like everyone on the thread thus far, I COMPLETELY agree with several topics that have been discussed:
1. Love “rom-coms” and have repeatedly watched cheesy movies lacking talent or plot simply because of the English interest
2. Cameron Diaz bugs (but strangely I still like to watch her cuz she's pretty and hella skinny and is quirky and fun and I envy her... and that's probably why she bugs)
3. Have at one point or another felt EVERY emotion that has been discussed regarding an LDR - been through hell and back... 4 years and going strong. Just got married!!! (Will fill you in on my background momentarily)
4. Get corrected CONSTANTLY by DH on vocabulary and pronunciation
5. I've very much enjoyed learning about all of you, reading as the friendships have developed and seeing the compassion displayed
6. Jamie - I broke the toe next to my pinky toe once. It sucked. Just tape it to the one next to it, draw a sad face on the nail of the one that's broken (mine was names Sad Sammy while it was broken) and use that as an excuse for Alan to carry you to every destination

So, I imagine since this is the sappy romantic thread that you will want to hear the story...
Hubby: from England, a town in Cheshire, but lives in Leeds now and goes to uni. (Alan and Jamie, I've enjoyed reading your posts because I feel a little kinship on the Cheshire front.. and you're an adorable couple!!) Me: From Arizona, work for a living (and an LDR). We met over 5 years ago. He was in the states visiting some friends. It turns out we had a mutual friend who invited us both to a local concert one night. He went to go meet up with another girl. I wasn't going to go but decided last minute I would. As soon as I got there I was introduced to the Englishman (who was being ignored by the girl he went to meet up with), to which the first thing I said was "I could listen to you talk ALL night". The response was an eye roll and him thinking I was another American bimbo. Turns out I'm not!

We talked for the rest of the night and hung out the rest of the summer until he went home. A year and a half later, I up and decided to go to England over Christmas. So I did. And we did. And we lived happily ever after....
Well, that's the short of it. It was a VERY difficult 4 years, as you all know from experience. And just when I was losing hope, in April I got a surprise. I had returned 2 months earlier from my traditional winter in England. It was Easter weekend. The boy was "camping with his friends" so I hadn't talked to him in a couple days, and my sister and I were heading to some lady's house to "help her with a project". She lives in a very big house with an amazing garden, pool, fire place, etc. Upon arriving her daughter said she was in the backyard. As we were walking out there, I thought "that's kind of weird that she would be sitting outside at night... by herself... next to the fireplace... with candles... and roses... but she's rich, so who knows!" Then I thought "why is there a guy back here who's walking towards us?... That guy looks like MY guy... That guy IS MY guy!!" To which I cried and he proposed. Cue the cheesy music, end scene. Seven more months of separation, got married in AZ a couple weeks ago, went on the honeymoon to New Orleans (SO much fun!). We just extended his stay to two days after Christmas and then he has to go back whilst we save and I work on the spousal visa. Then I will start the adventure of adjusting to permanant life in the UK and all the rollercoaster emotions that come along with that... what did I get myself in to?!?!?!?! JK, I love him, so it's worth it.
... And that was the LONG of it!

Sorry for taking up so much space, but thanks for the entertaining reading over the last few days!
Merry Christmas to everyone!! xx
