I watch too many romantic movies!

I can relate to this entire thread so much! Especially since The Holiday is one of my favorite movies. (for the sole reason it makes me think of visiting my boyfriend in England)

After two months of being apart, my boyfriend will finally be visiting me here in Boston on Monday for three weeks!! We are beyond excited. Before I went to visit him in England in September, it had been 6 agonizing months since we saw each other. While he is here over the next few weeks, we are going to talk seriously about marriage. We had wanted to wait to do everything right, but we know we do want to get married down the line. If we have to push it forward to be together, so be it! 

I can't wait! 5 days left!!!

SO about these uniforms....I was wondering, if there is any possible way....we can have something sparkly on them?  Nothing will set us apart form english women more than sparkly Santa shirts! Definately! We could go all out Mississippi/Texas on them and make them bright RED sparkles mmmmm

That is a fabulous idea....rhinestones or sequins...anything bedazzled...Jaime you are right nothing more will set us apart from the british women more then our fabulous sweaters and our accents lol....I am all for that hehehe

I live right outside of Philadelphia and I will be moving to Brixham in the Southwest of England and there is only 1 other american I know of and she has lived there for 30 years...and the first time I said "I'm gonna" people made such fun of me...and my "T" sounds like a "D" so when I say water it sounds like wudder..I am a mess over there lol and get made fun of alot....and I don't even think I have an accent lol

LOL absolutely!! haha poor Alan had to do quite a bit of translating for me:( I just can't wait till I have the american southerm/NW England accent that will be interesting!  Most of the time they look at me with their head tilited to one side...look at him and say wha??

yeah Jason translates for me...and he translates the devonian accent for me to...cause sometimes I look at people and am like what did you just say...oh I don't think I will have a british accent...when I spent my 6 months there everyone started picking up my accent hehe I had the opposite affect on them....

My bf is a geordie and after a year there are still random times I have to ask him to repeat himself.

When I was visiting him in Sept., some of his friends made me stand there and just recite certain words, like 'Jaguar'. It was pretty funny. Though I could barely understand what most of them were saying at times. They were all talking so fast and their accents are quite heavy.

I can guarantee no one here will be able to understand him.

1. Sparkles on the sweaters are a must!  Lets embrace our American-ness when we all live in England rather than be ashamed!

2. Jamie - your "dang y'all" even surprised ME when we met, so I cant imagine what the Mancurians will think of it.  I cant wait to find out!

3. Welcome Jenna!  I am so happy (but jealous) that you get to see your BF so soon.  Will you come back and let us know how the marriage conversation goes??  *fingers crossed*  Oh, and you also need to give us your meeting story!!

4. Someone explain to me what a Devonian accent is like?  David's got a posh southern accent, so I am lost when it comes to the "other" ones!

Stupid meetings:) I actually have a picture of Alan at the exact moment he proposed.  And it's a funny one the  of poor man looks terrified because I took the picture but still hadn't mustered the strength to say yes yet, hahaha that will be one for the wall.  Anyway I am sooo excited for you! Be strong you can do it!  I think it was Jep that said this...but it will not surprise me one little bit if you both decide to propose at the exact same time:) Can't WAIT for you to add that story to our little thread family here!

to me a real devonian accent sounds like a pirate...I have been called "Me Handsome"...it is very thick and hard to understand...Jason comes from Devon but has a posh sounding accent...so I understand him perfectly he has problems understanding me sometimes cause I talk to fast or the slang I use....

so just remember when you are in devon to say "Arrrrrggghhhhhh"

LOL I am going to ask BF if people from Devon sound like pirates!  He will get a kick out of that.   
I had to ask him about a Geordie accent before and faked one perfectly - maybe he can be a pirate too

Oh also, his mom asked him last weekend what I want for Christmas and now hes begging me to give him suggestions to give his mom.  What the heck do you ask a potential future MIL for for Christmas!?  (other than a Bridget Jones' sweater, of course!)
