Hi hi. Brides Wars was good - cute girly movie. The cold has progressed to stuffyness and a stubborn cough. :(

Brittany, I know you are traveling home today and you will be very sad. I have had those same exact feelings about where "home" is. But I'm glad you know when you will see him next and that it's not very far away, and that your trip went well.

Oh boy, I'm tired, and it's only 11:00. I hate wasting a perfectly good Saturday with beautiful weather because I'm sick! Hope everyone else is doing something fun today.

Hi Ladies!

Just getting back home now! Gak! Left at 10:45am to go to work at the shop. Then went straight to the mall to look for a dress for the event tmrw. I'm excited because I actually found a great dress! Only problem is shoes. I have no appropriate shoes and DSW had nothing. I don't want to go back to the mall but I may have to tomorrow. Boooooo. I really hate shopping like this. I have a million things to do tmrw, too. Sheesh. SO glad I took Monday off so I can relax (sorta.. I have a dr. appt at 10:15 and running shop at 4:30). Once I have some pics, I will post them somewhere!

Anyway, sorry some of you are still sick! Hope you feel better soon.

Oh, and Josy, I *totally* wrote that paper already! Like, last night! When I got back from dinner/drinks with my friend! LOL (NOT!)

Heh. Hot hockey players in tuxedos all night... I'll try! ;)

BTW, since I know you'll appreciate this Patty- last night I was planning my little trip to Liverpool this summer! Thinking to go to Manchester first (I love Life on Mars and want to see the city!) then go on to Lpool for a couple of days. Then a day in Blackpool possibly! Hehe! Gee, what to see in Liverpool.... LOL I can't wait! I've been wanting to go there for like 20 years, now!!

Becca- have fun in London! So jealous. What are you going to see down there? If you go to Hyde Park, say hi for me!

Ok, I've got to figure out how to get some milk at the store for my breakfast this morning without changing out of my PJs or actually going to the store... d'oh!

Oh my God, Beth......you know, after all the times I've been to England (the whopping two times! :P) I have YET to get to Liverpool.  I'm hoping Ian will take me this summer or the fall.  But your trip sounds amazing thus far. :)

Don't forget to come down to Southampton and visit us though!  Orrrrrr...maybe we can meet up in London and cross Abbey Road together?! :)

*sighs* It's so nice to have another Beatles fan around.  :D  lol

Yes!! We'll get Josy and Carey (and Chi-Chi if she'll be there!) and our jumpers and cross together! I call Paulie, though! ;) Heh. You have to be George since your name is Patty! LOL

I have the book called Beatles London and am going to use it to explore some of the lesser known places, as well! I'd like to do the London Beatles' walk, too! I think there's one for Lpool as well... hehehe..

LOL omg, Beth, you are going to Blackpool?? I am soooo jealous!  I have been told (by snooty Southerners) that Blackpool is like the Las Vegas of England, but that only chavs go there and I'm not allowed.  Sounds like a fun place to me!

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to thank all of you ladies for offering so much support in the past few days for me.  It's been really difficult getting used to having my boyfriend around again, and then immediately having to deal with leaving him to go home.  It's been so nice getting messages of encouragement via this thread and Facebook, and it has been a comfort to know that other people have and are going through the same thing.

I'm doing better than originally expected being away from him.  I'm not nearly as bad as I was at the end of the summer, but I'm assuming that's because I only spent two weeks with him this time, and not three months.  It's difficult either way, though.

The trip overall was lovely, though.  It was so nice to pretend to be normal for a while and to do stuff like go on dates, and spend the evenings in on the sofa watching films...just stuff that I envy everyone else for when I'm at home.  I didn't take too many pictures this time around...I was kind of caught up with trying to enjoy the moment instead of capturing it...and I'm kind of glad I played it that way like this.

The few pics I did take are posted on my photos here:

Thanks again everyone for the support and encouragement.  :)

Well ladies when you all head up to Manchester let me know I live 20 minutes away from there! And from what I hear Liverpool is a really nice day out!!

So...I am just taking a break from decorating our living room.  There was wallpaper up before and I decided that I want paint instead.  So I am 3 walls into taking that paper off and it is HARD.  His dad and I have been working on it since 9am and still not even close to being done...sigh...looks like Alan and I have a lot of work to do tonight:(

OK I've not posted here for a while but I've been busy living the dream so forgive me! :) Happy New Year to one and all. Firstly, in my opinion Jamie has and is coping very well with all that moving 4500 miles from home involves. Tomorrow is one month and we are enjoying every minute of being together, I'm sure there will be lots of obstacles for us to navigate past in the future but facing them together is so much easier! When I do see home sickness creeping in, as it occasionally does I feel helpless because I don't think a hug is enough to make it go away...but on the whole it's going really really great. One word of advice to you all from our first month is that being able to call her friends and family anytime for as long as she likes has been absolutely vital for Jamie and I know that sometimes it's hard even to have to wait all day to speak to her mum (because of the time difference) so many of her calls begin with the words "are you awake mum?" haha

We had our first proper date on Friday which sounds strange but it was great we went for a meal and a movie  :) My work keeps me away from the house during the day Monday to Friday although I am close enough to walk home at dinnertime which is nice. Our weekends then are really good because we get to spend all day together and this week we went to Crewe to buy lampshades and pick paint colours. Jamie has enlisted the help of my dad as she said and today they are both decorating our living room which we cleared out yesterday and when I left this morning they were getting ready to strip the walls. It will give her something to focus on because I know one of the hardest things for her is having nothing to do?

..and as for "Alan and I have a lot of work to do this evening" I can't wait? (he said in a slightly sarcastic voice  :-\\\\

At this point I have to mention her cooking. I feel well and truly spoiled when it comes to food now, because Jamie's cooking is so good (and I’m not just saying that either!!!) The initial frustrations of the supermarket are fading fast and now its “I’ve made a list we need to shop, let’s go!” I do miss simple stuff like spam butty’s and cheese on toast but sweet potato wraps or minted chops with veg do make up for it  ;D

We are in limbo on so many fronts and all plans we have depend on paperwork which is so frustrating for both of us, so decorating the living room is her project and I’m sure  when that’s done the bedroom will be next...

Brittany - I am glad you are doing better than expected post-Ireland.  His visit is not far off!!  Thats wonderful.

Jamie - I totally feel for you having to remove wallpaper.  What a pain in the ars*!  Glad you have future FIL to help you, though. What colour will you be painting the room?

Alan - thank you for the update - I LOVE hearing how happy you both are (even if it does stab a small dagger in my heart, but its lovely anyway!)  You are so supportive, its adorable! I am sure that Jamie knows just how lucky she is, so I wont bother reminding her. :)   David and I realized we still have not gone on a proper date either - I am glad we arent the only ones.   Isnt it great to see that even if you are in limbo, its not a huge deal because you are together??  Everything is better when you are together.  You will get that silly paperwork sorted soon enough.

As for me, I had an epiphany when reading Brittany's update that the reason I am having such a hard time is because I have no plans to see him again and I hate that.  Its measurably better to have the next time planned even if it is a few months away. So.. I have decided that I will be going back to England May 21!  May 25th is a holiday for both the US and UK, so I am taking advantage of it.  It seems to be THE last week that prices are reasonable before rising dramatically for the summer.  I just did a quick search and found that non-stop flights from DEN - LHR are under $800! I've never flown non-stop - it will feel sooo simple compared to layovers and stuff.  Now, if they can stay that way until I get my tax returns back (I file SUPER early), then I am all set.  I told David and he said "ok, thats fine".  Good enough for me. Thats only 4.5 months away. I've gone longer than that and survived, and I imagine he will come here or we will meet somewhere between now and then.  I CAN DO IT!  I CAN STOP POUTING and (try to) ENJOY MY LIFE (without him...) GO CAREY GO!   *ok, self-cheerleading over*
