OK I've not posted here for a while but I've been busy living the dream so forgive me!

Happy New Year to one and all. Firstly, in my opinion Jamie has and is coping very well with all that moving 4500 miles from home involves. Tomorrow is one month and we are enjoying every minute of being together, I'm sure there will be lots of obstacles for us to navigate past in the future but facing them together is so much easier! When I do see home sickness creeping in, as it occasionally does I feel helpless because I don't think a hug is enough to make it go away...but on the whole it's going really really great. One word of advice to you all from our first month is that being able to call her friends and family anytime for as long as she likes has been absolutely vital for Jamie and I know that sometimes it's hard even to have to wait all day to speak to her mum (because of the time difference) so many of her calls begin with the words "are you awake mum?" haha
We had our first proper date on Friday which sounds strange but it was great we went for a meal and a movie

My work keeps me away from the house during the day Monday to Friday although I am close enough to walk home at dinnertime which is nice. Our weekends then are really good because we get to spend all day together and this week we went to Crewe to buy lampshades and pick paint colours. Jamie has enlisted the help of my dad as she said and today they are both decorating our living room which we cleared out yesterday and when I left this morning they were getting ready to strip the walls. It will give her something to focus on because I know one of the hardest things for her is having nothing to do?
..and as for "Alan and I have a lot of work to do this evening" I can't wait? (he said in a slightly sarcastic voice

At this point I have to mention her cooking. I feel well and truly spoiled when it comes to food now, because Jamie's cooking is so good (and I’m not just saying that either!!!) The initial frustrations of the supermarket are fading fast and now its “I’ve made a list we need to shop, let’s go!” I do miss simple stuff like spam butty’s and cheese on toast but sweet potato wraps or minted chops with veg do make up for it

We are in limbo on so many fronts and all plans we have depend on paperwork which is so frustrating for both of us, so decorating the living room is her project and I’m sure when that’s done the bedroom will be next...
