I miss basketball....
« on: October 30, 2008, 12:11:38 PM »
So, I am sure there are other NBA fans on here.... how do you guys watch the games?  DH and I would loooooove to watch the Dallas Mavericks sometimes, but I tried that NBA fansite or whatever and they seem to only do live radio broadcast, which I don't think I could get into.  Any suggestions?

Hi,

Have you looked at the NBA League Pass?

http://www.nba.com/leaguepass/

At about $100 for the season, it might be more than you want to spend, but there's a free preview for the next 10 days or so, so at least you could try it out first.

I haven't followed the NBA closely since Magic and Kareem were playing, but I watch Dallas Cowboys football games on Yahoo! when they're not on Sky, and the quality isn't spectacular, but it's not bad.

good luck,
Carl

I miss the days of Magic and Kareem. I am a born and raised Laker fan. I really miss going to the games.

I know I'm going to sound like an old man, but I think the players were more team-oriented when Magic, Kareem, Larry, etc. were playing.  I don't like any of today's players enough to play close attention to the NBA.

I agree. Besides that, I really miss the short shorts and knee socks!  ;D

I feel the Mavs are (were) team-oriented the last few years.... don't know much about what is going on now, but reading the Dallas News, it sounds like they aren't off to a good start with their new coach....
Sadly, I was just getting into basketball, the only sport I have ever liked, the last few years before I moved.  And I enjoyed watching the games...

Are there any European leagues that are shown on Sky?  Maybe I could find a new team to get into....

Eurosport show the European Cup - champions from around Europe.

Channel 5 show NBA on Wednesday nights. I think Sky will show it once the NFL season has finished,

NASN show college basketball including "March Madness"

Julia, it isn't exactly the same (ha!) but I can often be found sitting courtside watching the Newcastle Eagles in the British Basketball League. You are more than welcome to join me sometime!

I'm thinking about getting metal legs. It's a risky operation, but it'll be worth it.

I got the same issue,BIG NBA fan here.I think NBA leaguepass broadband may be your best choice as stated above. The other issue is the time difference. For games happening on the West coast i.e Lakers games, they're gonna broadcast live in the UK at crazy a.m hours, like 3am.But I do believe you can catch a replay of any game from the previous night for a 24 hour period,of course nothing beats watching it as it happens but that's the best we can do,I'm afraid. We're in football(soccer) land here...

You might also be able to find a stream of questionable legality online

Myp2p is a good place to start looking for them (and finding the software).  I end up having to use these streams regularly to watch the Villa.

OMG...I miss bball so much over here. Actually I miss most "Americanized" sports. I just can't get into cricket or soccer(cricket is HUGE in my area). I recently acquired the NBA leaguepass and very much enjoy it. For me my wife(yes i got married) tries to comfort me with things from back in the states. But if you have the money or are a diehard it's worth the 100 bucks.
