Question about sponsored walks/donations...
« on: October 30, 2008, 08:51:16 PM »
My coworker's two daughters (ages 17 and 21) are participating in a sponsored walk on Sunday night, to raise money for cancer research, and she's asked us if we'd like to sponsor them.  I'm pretty broke, but I'd like to give something - she's lovely and her daughters (both of whom I've met) are sweet girls.  I'm just not sure what amount to tell her!  What's a decent amount to pledge without coming off cheap??  Anyone have any advice??

First of all, I really believe that anything you give for charity should not be looked at as cheap. IMO, if you are broke, giving £10 is more than generous. Just make sure that it isn't taken as £10 per mile!  ;)

Even $5 isn't cheap, in my opinion. Give what you can.

Thanks, ladies!  So £5 apiece wouldn't be too bad?  It's too bad that we can't use our charity giving cheques (DH's employer matches funds) for this - we tend to give to charity that way rather than out of our take-home pay as that pay isn't all that much!  ;D

£5 a piece would be fine. I sponsored a co-workers daughter for a walk for £5 and that was the most anyone at work sponsored some did £1 or £2.

Ooops. I meant £5, not $5. But I think you got the idea.

LOL!  Yes, I got the idea - actually, I didn't even notice the currency symbol.  ;D
