I REALLY fancy Fallout 3, there's a couple of copies in the games bin at work but I want to polish off Fable 2 and Dead Space (EA made a good game that wasn't Fifa whodathunkit) before Little Big Planet (ahhhhh can't wait) and End War (the demo was soooo good) come out at the end of the week.

Maybe it can replace COD5 as my lunchtime treat (trying to complete it on veteran before it comes out officially) although we got a copy of Midnight Club:LA last week and that's so great but just crazy hard and I've had a promo of GOW2 since last week and not touched it yet  AND copies of GHWT (with instruments!) should be coming in soon :D :D :D :D

Gahhhhh too many great games it's mental! Best xmas for games ever

Fallout 3 does look so good though, and I actually really liked oblivion so I'm quite happy that it's running on the oblivion engine which wasn't that glitchy imo.
Is it just oblivion with guns or is it really worth a punt? I never played the first 2 fallouts but you don't need to apparently :)

games games games, love 'em.

Man, I bet DH wishes I was as into gaming as you, ladies...  ;)
He plays COD5 all the time, while I play the Sims... lol...
I do like games, but always end up playing the silly ones.... I like racing games, etc.
Maybe if we had a game system he and I could play something together, which would be way cool...

There's loads of good games coming out with co-op if you have a 360 or PS3.
Gears of war 2 and COD5:WaW both have co-op campaigns but if you wanted something easier as a good into to a First Person Shooter then play Halo 3 co-op, it's not as demanding as gears or COD and the story is kinda interesting. (although I love the COD4 story the most).

Other games which have fun co-op are the lego games, especially Lego Star Wars (the others are indiana jones or batman).

DB play either against or with each other all the time :) Or we just do alternative levels and swap the controller on dying :D

Just talked to DH and we are now thinking of getting a game system for xmas for each other instead of buying other gifts.  It's a good idea, as we are both competitive and like to play, and this way we would get to play together, rather than sit next to each other on separate computers playing separate games.  The question is:  xbox or PS3?
What do you guys think?

I love my PS3 and hooked up to Play TV and my media server, it's absolutely brilliant as it's so quiet, I like high def movies and there's some great exclusives and free online.

But in all honest, the price of the Xbox 360 is too compelling at the moment and recommend you get an XBox however I really do recommend a bit of research before you buy one because they notoriously break easily as they have bad (inconsistent) build quality.

You basically need to guarantee you get one with a certain chipset and heat pipe which is less prone to red ring of death than other models and quieter DVD drives.
Microsoft basically have different factories making Xboxs, some are better than others with better drives, better chipsets etc but just package them all up as "Xbox 360". Weird  but true!

There's a new chipset coming (Jasper) but there's no guarantee they're in shops at the moment, so you're probably better off with a falcon chipset which is what I have and there's been no problem with it in 2 years.

There's a list of what 360s have what chipsets/drives here :
http://www.360drives.com/list
You basically look near the barcode and there's a LOT number and you just match it up to see what sort of Xbox you're getting

I wouldn't recommend buying a 360 from a retailer without a good returns policy, pretty much all 360s (non falcon) will die at some point and need to be returned to Microsoft for fixing (which is free in the first 3 years) if you're within a year you can normally return it to the shop you bought it and get a new one.

So yeah, I prefer the build quality and general usefulness of the PS3 but recommend for price that you go for a 360 if you just want some games to play together :D.
Also Microsoft has some really nice xmas bundles with extra games etc out at the moment which are good value.

I would also recommend that you do not get the Arcade (cheapest) version of the console, it has no hard drive so you can't download demos which is a pain and the 20gb or 60gb console would be the best value.

Hope that helps (yes I am a nerd!)

I love my PS3.  There's just not the library out for it yet.  My husband and I love the Lego games, but wish there were more multiplayer games out there for it.

Fallout 3 is definitely on my wishlist.  Maybe for Christmas.

DF is playing Fallout 3 and isn't crazy about it, but he is very particular. I watch him play a bit and really like the music and some of the humor in it. I just finished the main thread in Fable 2 and will continue with the acheivments and other fun things. I'm sure I'll end up playing it through all the way again and be evil.  ;D

We've had our 360 for almost 3 year without any problems. We had talked about getting a PS3, but the price and Blue Ray puts me off. I'm not one that needs to own movies, so I prefer the downloads that the 360 provides. I know, though, that there will be certain games that will just be on PS3 that will make me want it.  ;)

Xbox 360 is the better choice as far as the sheer number of games/variety of games are concerned.  I love my 360 and the wide variety i have to choose from when I want to sit down and play a game.

Fallout 3 is AMAZING. Easily best game this year.  im enjoying it so much, the immersion into the world is fantastic.

Call of Duty: World at War anyone?
I've got it on both platforms if anyone wants to play now the servers are up and I have Bond on PS3 and I snagged a copy of lego indy on PS3 from the games box.

I've also got Little big planet (PS3) and Endwar (360) this week if anyone fancies some co-op or WWIII action ;)
Waiting for my GHWT bundle which I probably wont be bothered to bring home from work for a while (as it weighs a ton!) but up for some guitar battles :)

I'm all about LBP and midnight club at the moment though. LBP is all kinds of beautifulness and really fun and lovely.

Midnight club is an evil frustrating game of hatred! But i'm addicted to it!!!

Dh very much prefers his PS3 over XBox360 I only play with the DS Lite myself. Dh got his GHWT bundle this morning looks like I will be a PS3 widow for awhile lol.  ::)  :P  but to be honest Dh doesn't sound to bad on his drums tonight thankfully he has his own room so that the noise isn't all that loud. My hubby prefers racing games more than anything then its a tie between football & Tiger Woods golf.

Call of Duty: World at War anyone?

DH is playing it right now....
if you want to send me a message with your details, you could play with him and his clan...
he could probably use a challenge.....  ;)  (and I am sure he would love to have a woman show him up on "his" game....   :P)

I have Fallout 3.  It's ok but it's too much like playing Fallout Oblivion for my liking.

Can anyone comment on how Fallout 3 compares to Half Life?  I know it's been a while, but that was the last PC game I was really into, and I really liked how it combined shoot 'em up with some stuff you had to think about to solve, too.

Recently, I've been looking hard at Fallout 3, and I'm wondering what the gameplay is like.  Do you just run around blasting hell out of everything or what?

thanks,
Carl
