ATM location
« on: November 06, 2008, 10:51:56 PM »
Does anyone happen to know if the Leeds Bradford Airport has a Barclay's ATM?  We use Bank of America and intend to take advantage of the relationship between the banks, and I'm hoping we can just get cash from the airport if it has an ATM.

Also, we're flying into Heathrow, which I know people have mentioned has ATMs-- does anyone know if they're accessible without leaving the terminal?  We have a layover there, so if we could just get cash there easily, that would work too, but I don't want to venture too far from the gates.

Thanks!

Just had a quick look at the Leeds Bradford airport website. In the FAQ section it says:

13. Are there any banks at the airport?

Travelex Bureau De Change will cash personal cheques up to the stated limit of the guarantee card (a small charge will be made). There are also three ATM points within the terminal building. Yorkshire Bank and HSBC ATM points are situated in the main arrivals area opposite O’Briens Irish Sandwich Bar.  There is also a Link ATM point next to the Travelex Bureau in the departure concourse.

But for Heathrow, all I can find on their website is:

 Cash facilities

Cash dispensers (ATMs) are available both before and after security control. Most cash dispensers will accept UK bank and building society cards (eg Link-affiliated) without surcharge. They also accept major credit cards.

What terminal are you flying into at Heathrow?  I know for sure there is a Barclays at T3 right across from arrivals.  I am pretty sure there is one in T2 as well.

Thanks!  I couldn't (and still can't!) find the Leeds/Bradford FAQ-- I may very well have a case of the dumb tonight, haha.  So it looks like they don't have a Barclay's one.

The Barclay's web site search only shows you by town, post code, or London street, so I don't really know how I'd specify the airport.

My itinerary doesn't tell me which terminals, so I can plan ahead for Heathrow in that aspect until I'm at the departing airport here in the US and get the tickets, I guess.

Thanks, but I meant for Leeds Bradford.  When I put in its post code, it doesn't list any that indicate they're in the airport.

No worries-- I wasn't exactly very precise, haha.  It looks as though I'm out of luck as far as knowing for sure if there's a Barclay's one at LBA, so we'll either try to find one at Heathrow or just outside of the airport once we get to Leeds.

Sorry, I should have posted a link to the FAQ (it's under Passenger Information -> Help & Advice -> FAQs) :

You can find out which Terminal you are flying into (and which one you are flying out of for your connection) on the Heathrow website - you just need to know your route and airline:

Thanks!  I saw that after poking around the Heathrow site.  It looks like we're flying into Terminal 1, but the map doesn't show which banks' ATMs are there, so we'll just have to wait and see.  We have a 2.5-hour layover there, so I think that'll be long enough to look around for one.

Hi - there is a Barclays machine in Heathrow's underground train station.

However, there is no Barclays machine at Leeds Airport, but you will find a Barclays Bank in pretty much every town.  Where are you heading from Leeds Airport?  There are branches all over Yorkshire.

If you cope with jetlag anything like as badly as I do, I wouldn't trust myself to carry large amounts of cash after an overnight flight, and I'd go to the bank the next day!!

I think that is so -- no Barclays ATM at Yeadon.  In fact, there's not much at Yeadon as I remember.

According to Barclays branch/ATM cash machine locator, there is a Barclays ATM cash machine in the Yeadon Morrisons on the High Street.  The nearest branch bank (from Yeadon) would be in Guiseley though, and then Horsforth after that.  The airport is pretty darn close to Horsforth, and we have a branch with an ATM cash machine.

ETA:  I don't think we really call them ATMs over here...just cash machines or cash points.  In other words, I am not sure if you asked a native Brit for the nearest 'ATM' that they would know what you are talking about, but I could be wrong.
